Daveo26
Alright chaps, I recently bought a selection of none toxic cartridges from somewhere, Maybe here? Anyway there is a full box of old eley .410 21/2 " bismuth cartridges included. I'm thinking of shooting clays with them this weekend. Is that a big mistake? I kind of feel like I'm wasting them being bismuth but I'm certainly not going to try and shoot ducks with them they are no. 6 shot and I imagine around 11 grams of shot. Any suggestions? motty
I would use them on ducks.
littlerob
Number 6 would be fine for ducks in bismuth
fenboy
Sell them to someone who would shoot ducks with them.
Daveo26
Really? I thought maybe ok for teal but I doubt I hit them with the titchy .410. Sell them to someone who would shoot ducks with them. Probably a more realistic option.Im not going to do it. Cheers
fenboy
I shot my first ever duck ( a drake mallard ) with a 2.5" 410 load.

Daveo26
That's all great fellas, .410 can kill stuff but I'm not bothered about trying to shoot ducks with mine. Iv got a 12 bore and plenty of non toxics to use. I'll go and buy some lead for clays Cheers
Stonepark
apparently not being made any more and worth about £1 a cartridge.
Daveo26
Well I would happily swap these with anyone local for 2 boxes of 2 1/2" lead .410.

Walker570
Just purchased the last 125 3 inch Eley Bismuth from Just Cartridges and a check on penetration proved they are certainly OK out to 30yrds, went through an inch of soaking wet compressed newsprint no problem. I would certainly save them for ducks and just be sensible on range. OR offer them for sale. I'm up for a deal if your in range.
