shared cabinet - SGC fill in -help please

Recommended Posts

So I have my sgc and cabinet, have my semi auto on my cert sat in the cabinet.

My other half applied for her sgc and said she was sharing my cabinet...yes thats fine they say and her sgc came through now

So her dad has 2 20bores he's giving to us, she is going to collect them tomorrow so he will put them on her cert..

How do we go about putting them on myne aswel? As I have access and they are shared guns? Who fills my cert in with the guns details?

And do I put my semi on her cert as she has access to it and will use it at times.

Basically shared access and shared ownership of all three guns!?

Help please

I guess that unless you plan on using them for more than 72 hours they can be on your Mrs ticket and you just "borrow them" I might be wrong.

That's how North Wales Police view it.

Myself and my wife share a cabinet. She has her gun on her ticket (a very nice Beretta in 20 bore), I have my 410, S/S 20 bore and O/U 12 bore on my ticket. The FEO stated that, as were sharing a cabinet to which we both had access, it was viewed that both of us were happy to lend a shotgun to the other for up to 72 hours, so the guns did not need to be on both tickets.

I do know that other forces view it differently, and want all guns entering on both tickets in similar cases. So you may be just as well getting in touch and asking.

We both have access to the guns though and we will both use them, one cabinet and a key each, so I assume they have to be on both certificates?

Consult the BASC.

But my immediate thoughts are that although the shotguns are on a particular individuals certificate as "owner", the other person can "borrow" it for a period not exceeding 72 hrs. In excess of 72 hrs requires transfer. So in practice there's no need to do anything if each of you use the others shotgun for the day.

does she write them onto my cert? And do I inform police aswel as her?

If they used common sense they would know you both hold certs with one cab and do that... Might be worth putting a note in when she informs them, stating your licence number. Then you just write details on with shared instead of bought/sold
