WelshMike
Dougy, Mike, Brendan, well done all! Great to see you're managing to get out. As expected it was too late for me last night, and sod's law it was dry all night. No-go for tonight, and rain forecast for Saturday night. Toys will be going out of the pram shortly. ....dont be throwing the toys out of the pram buddy...especially given the price of your toys
foosa
Dougy, Mike, Brendan, well done all! Great to see you're managing to get out. Those 2 vixens look heavy with cub Brendan - tidy work. As expected it was too late for me last night, and sod's law it was dry all night. No-go for tonight, and rain forecast for Saturday night. Toys will be going out of the pram shortly. *Edit* Actually Saturday's now looking OK. I'll hang on to my dummy for another day. Cheers RS, I didn't think these two were in cub when I had a look at them, I had two earlier in the week that were definately and about to drop them any day. foosa
A tough night last night for me having one fox dissappear into thin air from the middle of the field! One clean miss at a broad side around 100 yards?, and half the permission I was on being written off by three lads from the local campsite running their saluki, so after a quick chat with them to see where they were off to next to avoid any more crossing of paths followed by a soaking from a sudden downpour I just didn't see coming, I managed to call up this big dog to end off a pretty entertaining Night! oowee
Sounds like you had your work cut out Foosa between the locals and the non co-operative fox. Foxhunter looks like the drought was worth the wait. Good work lads well done.

racing snake
Nice shooting Brendan, Foxhunter. Glad to hear you're getting out again FH, looks like the local fox population is in trouble. Well, I finally managed a night out last night with no rain. Unfortunately no foxes either. Visited 3 permissions and was out from 8pm until 4am and didn't see a single fox! Not one! Just about to gear up for another round though. Yay! Could probably do with a night off it tonight but it's stopped raining so going to grab the chance while I can. I bet you're on your third cocktail already for tonight? WelshMike
....that last comment about Mark being weird applies to most of us to be fair,.....myself included. I am getting fed up with not getting out. Saturday night was no exception bu the forecast was for the rain to clear around midnight and then start again around 5 on sunday morning. Off to bed early for a couple of hours and then up at 11.30. Got to the first perm and the rain was still coming down so sat in the truck for 1/2 hour. Headed out but some nasty showers so got a little damp. Finished up at 2 with no sightings. Over to the second farm and over to the side that is less of a bog and easier to shoot on...no luck. Got to the truck about 3 but decided to walk the other part of the farm. No luck on the first part but headed out to a good spot next to the river. Had a quick hand squeak and spotted 2 sets of eyes in the one field but not instantly recognisable as a fox. Squeaked a bit more and the 1 set of eyes had moved a field closer and was indeed a fox. Over to the NV and I could see the fox coming in but there is a big water filled ditch and the fox was gone. A few more squeaks and the fox was in the same field having a good shake. He trotted in and a quick Oi stopped him at about 50 yards, shot away and down he went. I spent 20 minutes trying to call the other one in to no avail so went to pick up the one I had shot. Got down to where the fox was and checked behind me and there was another fox a couple of fields across heading in my direction. Quick trot up onto the bank where I had just been. I couldnt get a shot for a while due to branches and the electric fence but she finally cleared these at which point she was only 40 yards away, down she went . Nice size dog and a young vixen who was either barren or only just mated. I had one big field to walk through to get back to the truck...there was another fox. Called and called and very little response so the same fox that hadnt shown interest earlier. I had the rifle set up on the sticks and the fox was about 120 yards and presented a nice broad side shot so down she went. She was not far off having cubs so a good result. 3 down, 4 a.m, happy farmer and knackered shooter, off home to bed. Thanks for reading

Tournage
Went out on both Friday and Saturday night into the heart of the wind and rain that we had plentiful supply of in Bucks - love it! Plenty about (rabbits, muntjac etc.) but foxes were the focus, particularly as there is a bird farm close by. Both nights had a pair of foxes come in almost instantaneously to the call. However, even with a good 30 mintues of different calls, very disappointing outcome as they were just out of shotgun range both nights. Therefore, hoping and praying that my FAC arrives soon! Regardless, had two crows and two rabbits and so a good weekend on balance and just nice to be out.

Get them close then tiny mouse squeaks for those last few yards. ...just think how easy it will be with a rifle. See fox, see if you can get it to come closer to save the effort of walking a long way to recover the body, shoot it, job done Grant- any sign of the posh new .243 mate? Tournage
Just wait until you get your FAC mate, there will be no stopping you Really can't wait and also unclear why I didn't get one 10 years ago! No time like the present though... Looking fwd to your first picture posting Tournage. Get them close then tiny mouse squeaks for those last few yards. Thank you for the advice - I think I probably made a mistake here as I got louder not quieter - was freaked out they were going to bog off if I didn't keep the calling momentum high ...just think how easy it will be with a rifle. See fox, see if you can get it to come closer to save the effort of walking a long way to recover the body, shoot it, job done Grant- any sign of the posh new .243 mate? Too right - not going to stop me in the meantime trying to pull them closer though! Edited March 6, 2017 by Tournage
bumpy22
Too right - not going to stop me in the meantime trying to pull them closer though! You may do more damage mate. Every time you call them and dont shoot them it makes it harder to get them to come in again.i know its tempting but might be worth waiting for the new muskett atb ed Edited March 6, 2017 by bumpy22
oowee
Told now it should be here in next delivery to uk which is this month. Not holding my breath. Have to sort out high seat on deer lease while I am waiting. Waiting at airport for flight back and firearms just called to clear another farm. Need to get portable high seat as it's pretty flat. Hendrix's rifle
Out last night with the 223 after seeing a fox when rabbiting with the hmr, caught a glimpse of it when it vanished. 15 mins or so later it popped back up while I was drinking my coffee, 1 shot and she was down and christened the howa. Sadly no pictures, she wasn't in a good way and looked as if she had a scrap with a car and lost... caught the eyes of another but I was too slow. Went and hand a chat with a farmer earlier on today when I came home from work who has a farm near the local tip, he has many foxes around. Chat with his neighbors saying he had someone shooting fox but they never come and they keep taking all there chickens and will start on the lambs before long so left my number with them. There's a walk near the area and even hand squeaking for a minute or 2 showed 4 sets of eyes. Just waiting for the phone call. Another farm to see at the weekend who have some good hilly ground with a wood slap bang in the middle who are having an issue. With a bit of luck eh, next time I get one il get a pic
