justintime2001
Hi All, We have a big problem with pigeons in our garden and I would like to deal with them via an Air Rifle. It would be great if those of you in the know could point me in the right direction as to which gun to buy. It would be best if the gun was fairly quiet so I don’t upset neighbours. I have looked at a “HAMMERLI 850 AIRMAGNUM XT” which with scope and silencer can be had for around £365/£375, but are their others I should be considering? Any advice would be gratefully received, Thanks.

justintime2001
and is it open fields at the back of garden? No unfortunately its houses. I know I have to keep shots within my property and I will only be shooting pigeons that are on the garden. figgy
Get a spring powered gun like a nice used Winerack HW 90 odd model lots to choose from or a Air Arms tx 200. If it's tuned and got a silencer on it now way will pigeons hear it at over twenty yards.
Fabhui
Hi, I am at the Brewery end.. ie: Burton. Same here. I can highly recommend a tuned Air Arms TX200 in .177. Beautiful rifles and will do everything you need it to do!
old man
Not wishing to rain on your parade but if you are new to this, just make sure you know what you can and can't do? Some of your neighbours may be very aware? Remember, "all birds are protected" Read the general licence 2016?

Fabhui
Hi Fabhui, do you know of any clubs in the Burton area for shooting? There's Derby Aid Rifle Club in Ashbourne thar meets on Sunday mornings and there's Swadlincote Rifle & Pistol Club that has an indoor range for airguns. Just make sure you don't wind up with one that's shooting low on power.
