Cosd
Anyone have any idea what the spring and mechanism is for on this magnet? My buddy bought this off Ebay as a spare, but no idea what this spring arrangement is for Edited June 21, 2016 by Cosd
la bala
Looks like you maybe able to alter the pitch, if that is the case and using dead birds, i would think it will put a lot of strain on the shaft.
wymberley
Looks a lot like it. See what happens if you slacken off the Allen headed bolt which appears to be acting as a locking grub screw. It's a bit confusing with the bottom of the window sill, so can't make out what the plate looking piece is at the centre of the arm cross shaft. malkiserow
I assume that is a home made job. Adjustable pitch for the bird arms and you can stand in one place and set your birds up by flicking an arm forward by 180 degrees
7daysinaweek
unsure myself as said could be to change pitch, email the seller, may be able to shed some light! atb 7diaw Edited June 21, 2016 by 7daysinaweek

Cosd
exactly what i thought as well...........tell you what...it looks like a really well made machine.......... It does seem very well made, and it has a hefty motor on it to. I'll see if I can post some more pics I assume that is a home made job. Adjustable pitch for the bird arms and you can stand in one place and set your birds up by flicking an arm forward by 180 degrees It isn't home made, according the the post on Ebay it is a Sealand Magnet, but we couldn't find anything like it. deny essex
It looks like a slip drive , when power is shut off the motor stops and the arms continue to rotate through innercia, it reduces strain and possibly loosening the motor to arm bolt connection. Used a friends rotor similar to that. The rotor no doubt turns anti clockwise, if the power is shut off without the slip arrangement there is a strong possibility of the main motor shaft nut being undone . Keep the arrangement lubed and in a free working order. Edited June 21, 2016 by deny essex
fortune
If the black boss is rotated against the green boss rotary movement will cause a vertical movement which when connected to the arms will be a sort of swooping rotation. It looks like a fair old solid piece of kit to hump across a field. Just to think that Archie Coates used to make do with chucking a decoy bird out of the hide like a boomerang. Beardo
i have the same model - allen screws are for arms pitch, the spring and bit above are as mentioned a slip drive to prevent strain. can't remember where i bought it from, but its done me proud - might have been A1 decoys
