oldypigeonpopper
Simple question really, if I had around £1,700 to spend on a semi what guns should I consider? Use will be mainly clays and rough shooting. Like the look of the Remington 1100 Competition Synthetic but can't find much feedback on it, apart from some slightly negative reviews on us sites. Will become my main gun. hello, a lot of info from members as per usual so let us know what you decide. cheers ps AGL is that adkin grant lang? i am sure i passed there wednesday satnav took me the country route

Wingman
Well a quick update... I took my guns in to my local RFD for storage while were having building work (cabinet needs relocating once complete).. We chatted over a cup of tea and I asked him what autos he had in stock, at that point he disappeared into the gun room and brought out a very nice Remington 1100. The gun was in excellent condition with lovely wood and came with a spare barrel which to me looked brand new. Both are modified fixed choke but I have asked for one to be opened up to Imp Cyl. So I ended up buying it and saving myself a huge wedge of cash against my budget. So I have added an 1100 to my collection and its a good one, its now in storage with the rest of my guns and I'll pick them up at the end of July when I can get my cabinet installed again. Well pleased, and looking forward to getting out with it. Edited July 5, 2016 by Wingman

Wingman
Cheers All! Will get it out on clays to start with to get the feel for it, although I had an 11-87 years ago as my first shotgun so assume it will handle roughly the same... A friend of mine has this gun and I couldn't believe it when I shot it. It was like shooting a .22, there was hardly any recoil. He bought it as he has some back problems but it looks like he will need to sell it as he has been advised by his consultant to give up shooting all together. Shame you're not closer, it's like new and I'm sure he'd do a deal.
grahamch
Having read a lot of goodthing about the Franchi Affinity I went to look tonight with a view to buying a left hander and was sadly disappointed. The gun was well made but the balance on the one I looked at was dire - very front heavy and has put me righr off. Looked at a Maxus and Vinci at same time which although costing more were better balanced so will buy either and leaning towards the Maxus 3.5 inch

It's a 30" model and you could save a packet.

Armsan A612 from Mcavoys £275 to use in bad and winter weather. took it out on the Range. To say that I am gobsmacked would be an understatement. The trigger is smoother than my benelli and not only did I hit more clays with it but so did four of my friends. Only criticism I have is that for me it is a little short in the stock. B25Modelman
I am a big fan of Benellis Had SBEs for years no regrets, but as a clay comp gun they would not be my choice. If i were to want to take up claytbusting again and were to go with a semi auto both highly unlikeley by the way, it would be with a Winchester Sx3 Flanigan. They handle great look the part for a clay gun, and i have seen nothing but good things where sx3s are concerned. And the flanigan is well inside your budget. Is the Flanigan a Maxus or is the Maxus a Flanigan
B25Modelman
Just been trolling and someone mentioned the Benelli Raffaello Powerbore (USA Ethos) as being a copy of the Beretta A400. Both companies being owned by GM. The prices look very similar so are they pretty much one and the same internally.
Wingman
I really liked the handling of the remington 1100 would recommend having a look at one . Edited July 9, 2016 by Wingman

B25Modelman
Cheers but barrel far too long for me want a 26 You could buy a new 26" barrel for £400 and still be £300 cheaper than a new gun. Then sell the 30" barrel for say £250 to £300 and be well under. Ahhh on Gunwatch it says it's sold. I think you have made a wise choice, keep it clean and it will serve you well for a lifetime. Synthetic stocks and for ends are available from Brownells and would save your pretty wood if you go out in the rough(make your order over £100 and get free shipping, get some spare gas seals!) Enjoy!

Completely different mechanisms. Edited July 9, 2016 by IEH
