B25Modelman
This is going to run and run...or in the case of the two above, walk and walk. Why are F1 (or all vehicle racing), Bike racing (all types) not included. Bring in the 3 legged, egg and sac, races I say. UB would probably win the fore alone. In short it's a shambles...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ look at Seb Coe now that he has been rumbled. Edited July 24, 2016 by B25Modelman
Sian
I still don't accept your reasoning and I still think you are totally disrespecting their achievements. When you get 26 world champs, 18 European champs, 116! International champs, 16 world cups, 10 European cups, 11 British and England champs then you can talk. When you can get off a plane in a different time zone, in baking heat go straight to a shoot and win dropping one or two then you can talk. He doesn't need to run to prove he has stamina and his mental edge is phenomenal. And have you ever ridden a horse professionally? If you had you wouldn't be disrespecting their achievement either - you need strength. Being the best at something should be celebrated and respected and shooting to professional level is not a pastime. Go tell Richard Faulds his achievements are a result of being born a natural and a pastime - love to hear his response. Tell you what when I see him in a couple of weeks I'll ask for his response shall I.
HDAV
What's the betting that none of the Rio clay shooting will be shown on tv, would love to watch the young talented miss Hill!!! I don't see why it won't it was at London only the final rounds tho, even as a shooter and watching it live at London it's not exciting on tv, hopefully a better commentary team this time around

shaun4860
Chris Froome is part of a team....being part of that team and not being Chris Froome means you can never win the Tour, Chris can't win the Tour without his team. The likes of Digweed and Taylor do it by themselves....... Ask Froome to lug 8/9 pounds of Perazzi around a 120 bird course in all weathers and only miss a few targets.....I bet he couldn't do it, It's horses for courses, but to liken them to 2 fat blokes down the pub is just disrespectful..... BUT You are never going to change your mind and it's because of the likes of you that shooters will never get the respect they deserve...... You say Hoys golds are more worthy of a Knighthood than Digweeds record? I say shame on you.....

Digweed shoots clays, I can shoot clays. Ennis runs, jumps and throws, I can do all these things. In all cases these people are supreme at pass times most people can do. For me no difference in the level of work and commitment required, not to mention natural ability, between the three.

So are you suggesting that unless you actually physically exert yourself it can't be classed as a sport? If someone is competing with another competitor at any level whether it be county, national or international level, and excels in that competition, especially at international level, does that not make them worthy of our highest accolades? Snooker? Golf? Bowls? Given your comment about big mac burgers, and following the logic of that ridiculous comment, would you feel the same about George Digweed if he were thin? Scully
where would you draw the line a knighthood for the UK 10 pin bowling champion or the UK pool champion, UK dominos and cribbage Why does a line have to be drawn? All the people you have mentioned in previous posts are at the top of their game on a global scale, way above and beyond the UK level you mention above. welshwarrior
To be honest biathlon shouldn't be a sport either they may be super fit etc. But it's just 2 holiday activities rolled into 1 skiing and shooting neither are hard really come on skiing you go down a hill drink a brandy get the lift up and repeat mix in rifle shooting and remove the brandy it's quite dull really but not sport. buze
I think @chrisjh assumes one has to sweat and run around wearing a Lycra onesie to be worth of a Knighthood, and that's about it. it's not like a Chess Grandmaster could reach that level of awesomeness playing his pass time 'sport', because, it seems like @chrisjh doesn't seem to think that the mental side of a (any) sport might be more important than the physical side. Well, one could extrapolate that chrisjh doesn't seem to think mental work is terribly important. Which he demonstrated to us. But please do continue digging, it's entertaining :-)
hawkfanz
i wish amber all the best,,but dishing out gongs to sportspeople in my view is wrong ,,what good have they done for people at large,i think it belittles the title, after all most earn megga bucks isn,t that reward enough. They compete to be the best - if you're happy being mediocre, then good for you. But maybe a lot of people aspire to be good at something, not just average. Going by your logic (and I use the word in the loosest possible terms) are they worthy of a knighthood if they don't earn loads of money from it ? If so, then who decides where the boundary in monetary terms lies ? "I'm sorry, Mr X, but as you earn £50,001 from your sponsorship deals, you aren't eligible for an award. However, Mr Y, although you're positively useless compared to Mr X here, and unable to get any sponsors because you're so terrible, we're going to give you a prize" See how stupid it sounds ? lister22
i don't think you can compare they are completely different, Hoy or Redgrave they are "elite athletes" who have honed their skill with years of dedicated training, Phil Taylor & George Digweed however talented at their particular pastime are a couple of fat blokes who train down the pub, you might as well give the bloke who can eat 20 big macs in 5 mins a knighthood you should be removed from this forum because you are a troll
