Bletch
I was hoping someone could answer a question for me, some time ago I had a gun fit done on an O/U and was given the measurements etc, I then had my O/U adjusted to the measurements and am really happy with the results. I also have a SxS and wanted that adjusting as well, will the measurement be the same or do I need another gun fit but on a SxS try gun Apologies if this is a stupid question
Gordon R
It is not a stupid question, but an interesting one. In theory it should be the same, but I suspect it will be nowhere near.
TIGHTCHOKE
I would have the SxS fitted again just to confirm, if you had it altered to the previous measurements and it was wrong you would have wasted both money and time. wymberley
If you thought having the OU done was worthwhile, then doing the same for the SbS will give you the all important confidence in it. If one is pistol grip and the other straight hand then it's odds on that your LoP will need looking at if nothing else.
Hamster
I was hoping someone could answer a question for me, some time ago I had a gun fit done on an O/U and was given the measurements etc, I then had my O/U adjusted to the measurements and am really happy with the results. I also have a SxS and wanted that adjusting as well, will the measurement be the same or do I need another gun fit but on a SxS try gun Apologies if this is a stupid question If you had taken your OU to 10 different coaches/fitters the chances are you'd be handed 7 at least slightly different measurements, possibly 10 so the chances of the same numbers being applicable to a gun which is so different in crucial aspects such as rib height and cast requirements would be near nil. Gun fit is much more than a set of numbers handed to you by someone who merely measures you as he/she sees things, the ultimate numbers can only come from you through experience. Seadog1408
I was fitted for my s/s first, I then transposed those measurements onto my o/u, am very happy with both fits. Mike
Kalahari
If they are different stocks the measurements might not work. Pistol grip vs straight hand stock, single tigger vs double trigger that sort of stuff. Even different ribs might effect the drop on the stock. Hope this helps, David. welshwarrior
As above if the grips are different then dimensions will come out differently.
