hodge911
hi all just having a think to myself and hopefully the PW society can help I have a 2nd gen escort S/A in 12 bore with 28" barrel 3" chamber L/H . I am wondering if I could get a second barrel 30" long for the 3" chamber to swap between the two pigeons [28"] ducks & geese [30"] or should I just get the barrel extension piece also what do I have to do on the legal side of purchasing a second barrel thanks hodge Edited December 4, 2016 by hodge911
steveshoots
Why not just buy a super extended choke from Mandel or Teague problem sorted.
eastdevon
I have the pump version of same gun and personally I would save money and stick with the 28" barrel and just work on the cartridge and choke combination to best suit which quarry your shooting. I'm no expert just giving my opinion!

My advice would be spending a bit of money finding a Choke an Cartridge combination that suits you would be far better. A 30" barrel will kill no further than a 24" barrel well unless you going to use Black Powder 👍
GingerCat
I don't think the ducks will mind not having the extra 2 inches.

hodge911
just sat pondering the other days escapade .......was out with a mate hoping to get a crack at some geese [inland] so FF and after setting up the decoys and waiting for a while a skien came over at a nice height so I focused on one bird third from the end and let rip with 36grm 3" magnum No 1 steel shot. on the second shot the bird folded in mid air and came to ground with a hell of a thump bounced about 6" in the air and ended up belly up about 100yds into the field in front of us ...............YES !!! my first ever goose and a grey to boot ..............the other lads with us shouted over nice shot and promptly sent his lab to collect the downed bird ..............as the dog got to about 15foot from it it flipped over made a few honks and lifted off into the distance . so I just wondered if a little bit longer barrel may make any difference as I had never "been on the geese " before that's why I asked for some opinions
GingerCat
Nope. No difference. With geese I'm told to aim for the head and ignore the body.
