pg123
Hi all. I'm looking for recommendations for a fleece gilet. I currently shoot with a Rydale tweed gilet but fancy a more modern fleece. I have listed my needs below and welcome any suggestions. Not heavyweight or thick lined like the Jack Pyke Shires as I walk a lot and would be too warm. Must have 2 proper cartridge pockets + 2 handwarmer pockets to store items like gloves, knife ect. Needs a zipped internal pocket to keep the car keys safe. A collar to pull up if the weather turns cold. Budget wise I would prefer to pay up £50 - £60. So far I can't find anything in fleece but do like the look of the Hoggs Ranger Gilet which ticks the boxes and is at the right money. Anyone have or had one of these?? Thanks. Lord v
It's not fleece, but but decathlon sell a gilet that has you more than covered pocket wise. It's the SOLOGNAC steppe 500 or something. It should keep you pretty warm as well . Edited December 14, 2016 by Lord v

Trouble is I have 5 jackets to pick from already!! One I've never even worn yet. Must admit I have pondered on a wax gilet but would prefer fleece if I can just find one that meets all my needs. Also the idea of a wax jacket is surely to keep the rain off but to then leave off the sleeves doesn't make sense to me. Thanks.
Jason_ox
Not fleece either but I think you're going to be hard pushed to find what you want. https://www.bushwear.co.uk/clothing/shooting-vests-waistcoats/deerhunter-lofoten-waistcoat-4533-381-dh.html Edited December 14, 2016 by Jason_ox

lakeside1000
I found a Tom Franks gilet in a local charity shop for £2, still had its tags on, it has everything, cartridge pockets, hand warmer pockets, zip inside pocket, fully lined with elasticated arm holes to stop draughts around my back, padded corduroy collar, zip front that comes right up under my chin, I wear it under my camo coat in the winter which keeps me very snug, then in the summer all I need is a tee shirt and the gilet over the top, one of the best buys I have ever made from a charity shop, may be worth a google search for one similar. pg123
Rydale? http://www.rydale.com/collections/mens-bodywarmers-gilets/products/mens-lisset-fleece-bodywarmer I looked at these in a shop in Skipton. They are very thickly lined and would be far to warm to walk around in
