beanieboy
I know the issue of which ammo is often a pointless debate as it differs from gun to gun, however I have a new CZ527 223 American on it's way and I'd be interested to hear what others using this particular gun use in theirs. It is a 1-9 twist. My main use will be longer range rabbit, so I'd prefer to use lighter, flatter shooting ammo, if the 1-9 can live with it. beanieboy
Did you ever try the 40g Vmax?

snow white
Are you sure its a 1.9 twist i have had two of themand thay where 1.12 twist.
beanieboy
Yes, they're 1-9 now and have been for some time. Hopefully it'll shoot the 40g ok.
Redgum
1.12 will be best suited to lighter bullets but it really is a real trial and error, my Tikka lite 223 is 1.12 and shoots 55gr very accurately, not bad with 60gr as well. For the longer range bunnies maybe the 1.9 shooting slightly heavier bullets would be more predictable that shooting light and fast over range plus you can shoot some heavier bullets should you ever need to shoot small deer. beanieboy
Yes, 55g Vmax are reputed to be very accurate in the 1-9 twist also. Some folk also find the 40g very accurate.....as you say trial and error! Many thanks for replies chaps.
cooter
Not a CZ, but my 1..9 twist Remmy 700 shoots anything from 40grn to 65grn very flat out to 220 yds with a 189 yrd zero.
beanieboy
That's good to know Cooter....for me, it'll probably be more of a long range rabbit gun, than a dedicated fox tool. 40g, if it works, would suit just fine. Vince Green
Buy some privi or S&B and use it to set up your scope and zero everything in, settle your barrel etc. Clean regularly with copper remover. Who knows? your rifle might love it with a passion and that's you sorted. If not its really trial and error after that.
