ChrisPCarter
I'm looking at buying a used Mossberg 500 Hushpower 20 gauge barrel (only) privately and wondered if it has to be sent to me through an RFD? I believe shotgun components aren't classed as firearms without the action is that correct? I already have a 410 Hushpower on my certificate with standard barrel and Hushpower one and they don't have serial numbers on them so one is just written on as "plus spare barrel". Looking to add a silenced barrel to my Mossberg 20 gauge that just has a standard barrel at present. So can it just be sent through regular insured post or does it still have to be via RFD? The guy sending it has tried to contact his FEO and RFD without luck but is going to give them a ring again to check. Chris.

sishyplops
Barrels depend on who they are being sold by, if they come from an rfd then they go on your sgc if not then no problem, not sure how you would post though, wether Royal Mail would take it, if they knew what it was?? I have a couple of beretta 303 barrels one on ticket the other not

welshwarrior
Wrap it up well so the heavy hand couriers don't bend it.
HDAV
You can probably post them! Royal Mail have alength limit which stops most guns but a barrel may well fit. First class recorded or special are true services check the po site for details.
ChrisPCarter
I wonder if gun parts are allowed by Royal Mail? I'll find their terms and conditions but this may actually just be a piece of metal pipe for my heating system lol Fine until it gets lost and an insurance claim has to be put in... Okrang
When I have sent mine in the past, I have wrapped them in bubblewrap and packed them up inside a piece of 2.5" guttering downpipe for protection. Works a treat!
