rec-baller
I am looking for a decent broadband / phone provider , I have have just binned talk talk after having connection problems since October!! I was sick of the broadband connection dropping for days at a time and then speaking to "Colin " in Bangladesh who kept telling me they would run tests , I lost the plot today and sacked them off , at first they tried too tell me there would be a £385 disconnection fee, I told them too consult my solicitor for payment, they then agreed to drop the charges . So who is a good provider please Shaun
Danger-Mouse
As much as it pains me to say it . . . Sky have been excellent for me the last couple of years. Very few drops in service and unlimited really does mean unlimited.
subsonicnat
Another thread to get loads of variables, but talk talk I would not recommend. I am with sky,and cannot fault them,I must admit I did take on fibre. And comes screaming in at 65MBPS,Even in another room on tablet I get 38MBPS.. That is just me though.. HDAV
I was happy with sky but their fibre offering was way more than others I went Vodafone and happy with th service I am getting and the speed, it tests very well but I think that is optimised. If your a mobile customer you get cheaper broadband too If your an SSE customer they have a very good offer at the moment
clakk
Sky Fibre here 27 quid all in 72 meg daily no issues ,got rid of sky tv though they couldnt find ways to put the price of that up fast enough.Use freesat box and thanks to the fast fibre connection watch most stuff on catch up so u can pause it and watch when u like .Son had Virgin cable in Derby that was very good but expensive compared to sky fibre atb
Billy.
I have Sky Unlimited. 80 down, 20 up. Out of all the providers I've had, these guys have been the fastest and most reliable. I'm fairly sure I top their leaderboard for bandwidth use, as I upload about 3TB of data a month and they've not said anything yet. So it's safe to say that it's unlimited with no traffic management. ferguson_tom
We had Sky and their service was excellent, expensive but excellent. When we moved we decided to drop the TV and have internet only and went with Plusnet, so far so good. We hardly watch "live TV" when my TV is on 90% of the time its streamed from Netflix Amazon or Disney Channel and never found the service restricted. I wouldnt touch BT with a barge pole....strange that they own Plusnet and i have found the service to be excellent.
Wingman
I have just got rid of Virgin Media, the service was shocking. Their TiVo box was slow cumbersome and took ages to "wake up" every time it was turned on. The EPG was clunky and the general interface was not intuitive at all. I supposedly had 200MB/ps broadband but the connectivity was poor and connection speed variable. I have now moved to SKY and have the new SKY Q box. Its like night and day between SKY and VM the box is fast, easy to use and the interface in excellent. We have broadband from SKY (which is actually BT Infinity) and it wipes the floor with the Virgin service, despite of the lower bandwidth. Since moving the SKY i have had zero dropouts and the service is consistent with excellent wifi strength throughout our home. The least point I will raise is the that the installation quality from VM was very poor. Cables strung without any trunking behind my hedges and the brown cable entry box installed wonkily held with 2 of the 4 screws. It wasnt until I ripped it all out I noticed how utterly poor it was. Totally different with SKY the installation is faultless and very neat and tidy. So there you go thats my view, would never recommend or use Virgin for Broadband or any other services again. Luckyshot
You will only get people's horror stories or good stories. I've never had a problem with bt fibre unlimited £16 a month and I'm a heavy user download average at 150 gig a week and upload around 4 times that a week and have done for years without any problems.
