slaphead
Personally, I would be better off just eating them myself because I wouldn't even get a fiver on most of my days out lol Thankfully I see it as "its the day that counts" and "one cracking shot can make the day".. because my bags certainly dont cut the mustard haha!! Some guys on facebook groups travel a distance but want to pick up a freezer full at a time to make it worthwhile... Ive seen 80p a bird regularly with head and legs cut off Edited March 31, 2017 by slaphead
farmboy807
Ok thanks for that yes I will be filling the freezer then he will come collect once full long as it covers. Cartridge costs I'm not fussed about money but they do add up plus cheapest steel iv found is £230 thousand 32g

I shot some last week through 5/8 and 7/8 worked great out to 40 yards. You may get a bit further out of them. But me birds decoyed well so no distance shots. mrpip
I have been selling steel shot pigeon for the last 12 years to a large scale falcon breeder, since the latest outbreak of avian bird flu he has quarantined his site and at present is not taking anymore. Pigeons were sold fresh in the feather the going rate was 50 p,
Fuddster
same boat as me Mrpip-my regular breeder has stopped taking pigeon even though AF was not within 50 miles of me. left in the lurch with 80 birds already frozen. don't know if a game dealer will take steel shot pigeon as someone might crack a tooth. gone back to lead for the time being. once they start taking again I'll be putting my price up. f. I would of thought the game dealer will gladly accept steel shot pigeons Fuddster as I have sold plenty of duck that had been shot with steel and on some shoots near us on the outskirts of the Broads they have to use non toxic shot on game as the land come under SSSI ruling and all there game goes to a dealer without any complaints as far as I know. Cranfield
My steel shot birds are going to the Game Dealer at the moment due to the Avian Flu issue, he is quite happy to take them, but he doesn't pay as much as the birds of prey customers, so be prepared. hawkeye
Talking to one of my mates at the clay ground on Wednesday night and he was saying the game dealer close to us is only paying 5p per bird.. Most of mine are in the freezer and get used for fox bait..
Fuddster
Yep 5p from Yorkshire Game at Catterick not worth the diesel taking them there. f.
