oldypigeonpopper
hello, well it seems that this new conservative idea will not go done well for any company, will this be payed time off ?? most of those i know looking after elderly relatives are retired any way. all that money we have payed in over 50 years to pay for care seems to have off set the big give away to foreign countries
Vince Green
It will be unpaid leave supposedly. The questions being asked though are, would this be a one off arrangement? or could we use it to bounce in and out of work as many times as we wanted? What is the definition of a relative? What level of illness is the criteria for being elegible? Would it affect pension rights? Would the person be elegible for working tax credits and other benefits? four-wheel-drive
Its the usual conservatives trying to con the people in to thinking that they care about the sick or old but they never want to put there money in there pockets to actually help less well off people. Davyo
Hasn't this always been in place but down to the employer. At HMRC we have people who only work term time and their income is just pro rata. One of my colleagues took 3mth out to care for her father who had terminal cancer (unpaid). One young lad took 12mth out to go walkabout again unpaid. As long as you give plenty of notice it's fine.Dont know if a small employer could or would authorise leave of absence. catchthepigeonmutley
...all that money we have payed in over 50 years to pay for care seems to have off set the big give away to foreign countries The foreign aid budget is something like 0.7 %, so in other words we keep 99.3% of the wealth. Surely the real question we should be asking is why, when this country is one one of the richest in the world, why is there never any money for anything
Scully
I took six weeks out ( self employed ) to care for my terminally ill Mother. Wasn't entitled to any reimbursement but my GP thanked me immensely, saying what a good job I was doing and no doubt saving the NHS a bob or two too.
