One of the fire brigade bigwigs was interviewed on the Today programme this morning and he was very critical - and rightly so - of two people who had ignored advice and gone up on to the moor yesterday evening to look for injured wildlife. If anything had happened to them they would doubtless expect emergency service personnel to put their own lives at risk to get them to safety.

Anyone know how to ensure only UK sellers come up when I am searching for items on Ebay? I've got my preferences set for UK sellers only but I am still mostly getting cheap Chinese rubbish. At the top of each item it states 'Item Location' as somewhere in the UK, sometimes spelt correctly, sometimes not (Lundon, Summerset, Lester), but when I scroll down to the bottom of the add there is the sellers address in China. It's very annoying. Any help, advice, sympathy etc. gratefully received. Thanks.

I believe the problem is that any water would have to be suspended under a Chinook in some kind of container and it would have to approach very slowly, maybe even just hover, for any degree of accuracy in dropping the water. As they have 2 enormous sets of rotors the downdraught could well do more damage in fanning the flames. May be we should just swallow our pride and fork out for a French CL215 amphibian to come and do a bit of water bombing - there are plenty of reservoirs up there. Just back from work and it's not too bad at the moment, but when I left this morning the smell of smoke was awful.

Definitely Tyne Cot and Menin Gate, also the In Flander's Fields museum. Also the Hill 62 Sanctuary Wood museum is a small museum with some amazing artefacts and also original trenches that have been cleared and through which it is possible to walk. Also got a small cafe - Mrs. CTP and myself were the only people there at the time and for some reason the owner sat watching us with apparent suspicion as if she'd seen our pictures on a wanted poster. Hill 62 and Tyne Cot are such peaceful places, and it's difficult to believe that a century ago were witnessing one of the blackest episodes in human history. Incidentally, my late uncle was one of the longest serving RAF officers, putting in 47 years after joining at 18 and flying right up until retirement at 65. His flight log - all 5 volumes - was presented at his request to the RAF museum at Hendon and they reckoned he had the 3rd. highest no. of flying hours in the RAFs history.

Hi all... I'm starting to look for a new car and my needs are for something with good boot space for my shooting stuff etc. We're not bothered about rear passenger leg room as the kids are driving now and we rarely have passengers. My wife however, wants something in red. I'm a bit dubious about this as I have seen plenty of formerly red cars around which are now going much lighter, if not a strange shade of reddish pink. About 15 years ago I remember talking to a chap who worked for an automotive paint manufacturer and he said (if I recall correctly) it was something to do with red pigment not being as durable or longlasting. I've lost contact with him now, so am wondering if this is still a problem with red vehicles or if it has now been overcome. Anyone any thoughts? Cheers.

Couldn't agree more, especially after having been to the area a few years back. We found Palestinian people to be open and friendly, but Israeli people rude and arrogant, only wanting to speak to you if they thought they could flog you something. We've GOT to get away from the ''Israel can do no wrong'' sort of mentality.

My daughter had a similar necklace pendant CONFISCATED while going through the country's most expensive cattle market, aka Manchester Airport. She had to hand it over and they just chucked it in the bin - couldn't care less. She was so upset as it was given to her by her then boyfriend.

We were thinking of getting one at the suggestion of the supplier. What they DIDN'T tell us however was that there wasn't actually enough room for it in our little cupboard in the hall. We got an independent bloke in who reckoned it would cost £400-£500, to move things around or take stuff out that wasn't needed anymore (the house was built in the 30's), and that would cancel out any savings.

I know there was a charity shop thread a while back, but I can't find it. Me and Mrs Catch The Pigeon were doing the charity shops yesterday - one of her favourite Saturday things . In the first one we found an old book called The Universal Home Doctor (Illustrated). It was beautifully bound in dark red with gold titling. As my Dad used to be a bookbinder I appreciated the cover straight away. It was a book for non medical people to identify and treat various ailments that they might get. Glancing through it I thought Mrs CTP (a trained nurse) would find it interesting. There was no date on the frontispiece, but I reckoned it was post war. It had apparently been obtained on mail order from an advertisement in the Daily Sketch newspaper, as the address label was still on the case it was in. Imagine our surprise when we saw that the address was for our first house that we lived in for 13 years. Same street, same house number. Obviously I bought it straight away. I suppose by the law of averages (whatever that is) such coincidences are bound to happen every so often.

I love the way IKEA gives daft names to it's stuff. Last time I was there they had a doormat called Boris. Every time I go I feel like I've walked miles by the time I get to the checkout, and each time I swear I'm never coming back. Until the next time...

A few weeks ago it was time for the annual window cleaning at work (this is the civil service). OK when the guy was doing the outside, but when he came in for the inside, well, you just started to breath through your mouth pretty darn quickly. You could see the reaction as he passed down each row of desks. This was mid morning, so you couldn't claim it was a result of a long day's work. While most pongers just don't wash (I would assume), some people do sweat more than others and need to shower repeatedly. My son is like this, just sweats more. But he regularly showers twice daily to make sure it doesn't cause offence.

Anyone else getting frustrated at the beeb's coverage of the Olympics? I just want to see a bit of ice hockey, skeleton and luge and things, and I don't want to sit up all night watching it live, so I rely on the highlights shows, but most of the time I am not seeing sport, just people sat or stood around talking about it. Inane conversations like 'how important is it that you go faster than anyone else...?' etc. Lost count of the number of times I've switched on and this has happened, sat there for 10 mins and not seen any action. No point in complaining of course as the BBC is too dogmatic.

So there I was having a nice relaxing afternoon with Mrs. Catch The Pigeon for her birthday. She was very careful all day not to reveal her age to all her Facebook friends messaging her (she's 58) and we'd had a very agreeable afternoon tea at a country hotel near Macclesfield. We had just retired to the bar when the deed was done to the unsuspecting pair of us, namely only getting 40p change out of a twenty for a G&T (double) and a pint. Anyone else been ripped off to such an extent, or was I just a bit naive? I knew it would be expensive, but not that expensive.
