I wonder if I can get some opinions on the A302 12 gauge as ive been offered one. I know back in the day they were a tasty pigeon gun, just wanting to know if theres any owners here that could give me the current situation surrounding reliability and maintenance- would be my first semi. Any advice greatly appreciated 👍

Thanks in advance.

I've a couple of them,an A300 and an A302,,,both solid, reliable guns. The 302 should have the beretta slide in chokes with a locking end cap which are still available from various sources. As the barrels on the 300 series are interchangeable, the one you are looking at may be fitted with any of them. A good buy whatever the format.

Cheers gents 👍 was just what I was hoping to hear. Yes it looked like a funny old choke system 🤔 he's asking £270 but will haggle I reckon 😉 has 26" barrels if that helps with identification? I will see him tmrw & hammer out some kind of deal 😎

To be honest he is asking a fair price depending on condition but we all like a haggle :)

Don't let the choke system put you off, it looks like you will see the nut but you don't.

If it IS the one with the nut on the end then you can fire it without a choke but not without the nut.

Don't forget a 26" auto will be about the same length as a 28" o/u

Thanks Shaun - that all makes sense 👍 yes it has the nut on the end, sounds like an interesting shooter, manufactured in the mid 80's- I'm not hung up on dates, my 1979 Franchi o/u is my go to gun.

Friend of mine bought one new in the 80's and it's still going strong now

Used it for pigeons, on the foreshore (with a magnum barrel) and for clays

Well I got it for £245 👍 stock and mechanism are in blinding condition considering its age & bore is mint, it did feel short- but in a nice kind of way if that makes sense 🤔 on closer inspection I think the choke system is pretty neat, retaining nut and slip in chokes. Does anyone happen to know the load limit for it? Had to order a bigger cabinet too 😲 soon have room for a few more 😎
