subsonicnat
Most of them made in china, cheaper end of course. Buy a decent one saves loads that will not spray right,it can be very frustrating. If you are only trying it out,it can be very expensive to get it altogether,, I know I bought lods of guns and paint, talking of which they very expensive, and again cheap paints will not spray very good either,Cleaners,Thinners, the list goes on,and on,.. Scully
Depends how experienced you are. There are brushes to suit all capabilities from the little single action Sprite to the more advanced double actions such as those from DeVilbiss and Paasche etc.
fern01
If you are going to do a fair amount of airbrushing a compressor is a good investment and much more convenient. Lots of practise on old cardboard etc. is a good way to learn the skills

De Vilbiss used to do a foot operated pump which made it very useful but you need someone with strong legs to keep up the required pressure,. mick miller
And if using a compressor try and get one with a secondary receiver tank which, on smaller compressors, helps iron out some of the pulsing that can occur.
figgy
Use a car tyre or big inner tube for air if you don't have a compressor. Make sure the seals are solvent proof or they will melt and the airbrush is scrap. Go for adjustable double action you will soon get used to it. I used to use one to repair paint chips on radiators and my cars. Would love to be able to do the custom paint jobs you see on bikes and cars.
