TaxiDriver
Are they easy to grow from the little seeds that are in pods (they kinda look like mini pea pods) If I harvested some and potted them up, could I get them to germinate & grow this year(?) OR, Just sprinkle the seeds into the border where I'd like them to grow and wait for next year ?
loriusgarrulus
Look out for highwaymen shouting "hand over your lupins"
Mice!
Think you would normally dry them first, then sprinkle where you want them, some should grow ok be everywhere before you know it 😉
John_R
I grew some in an old wheelbarrow this year. I started them indoors but frankly I don't think I needed to. I would wait till next spring and sow them where you want them, half inch under and water well.

TaxiDriver
Ha ha, Out of boredom and after the first reply, I simply potted some up So will see what happens. Will get some more from mums garden and sprinkle liberally in the border I want to fill, my mum reckons if I'm lucky I'll get some growth this year then they'll die back for winter, and come back next year. But I'll keep some back to sprinkle liberally next springtime.
clakk
Dad used to put them in an envelope in the shed over winter and just plant them straight out in the spring after the first frost ,50 years of Lupins cant be far wrong atb
GingerCat
They are quite easy to grow. I start me early in a greenhouse but you can just plant the seeds in a bed and see what happens, I'm sure you'll get some come up
TaxiDriver
Thanks, As I said I've potted some up now outdoors, have kept some back to liberally sprinkle along the border next spring. VicW
Be warned TD, lupins are like poppies and will rapidly take over a garden if left to their own devices. Vic.

TaxiDriver
Well, 4 days after potting some up I have a good number germinated The pot I put indoors with a cover on has gone away quicker, the one I left outside on the table is not so advanced.
