Sprucey
I've been trying to come up with a method of filling a hollow synthetic rifle stock I have. Thought of the obvious 'Expanding Foam' but this stuff is messy and very light once cured so no weight benefit. However, today I have the answer.... Cable Jointing Kit Resin. We sell this at work, It comes in handy 250ml, 450ml, 750ml and 1L pouches. It's a 2 part compound that you mix via removing the seperator. Mixx well then just pour into the stock. It fills all the gaps as it is a thick liquid. Once set it goes very hard and has a good weight to it. So just a heads up in case anyone is in same position. Only cost me £3 too. RESULT. saddler
As long as Iit's not exothermic & warps the stock. Some people mix up lead shot & a suitable glue.
Loki
Hi Thank you for the heads-up - I have been wondering how to do a Sako Quad stock that is a bit light to the shoulder without causing a mess! What stock did you fill and how much did it require? L
activeviii
watch it all pour out the rear action screw hole. plug the bottom of the stock first with furniture foam.
ips
Out of curiosity for what reason are you filling it, is it a weight thing or
oldypigeonpopper
hello, did not need extra weight but filled my 455 polymer stock with paper shreds from home shredder, use a long stick 1x1 or ? pack it in tight just above butt end and replace pad. it also helps to stop the shot noise echo Edited July 17, 2017 by oldypigeonpopper
Sprucey
I have a nice little cheap Mossberg 817 .17hmr. The stock was hollow and very very light! so I don't mind having a little mess as it only cost me £75 lol. No mess at all! this stuff doesn't expand either so once in, sets within an hour or so and job done. Doesn't feel like a tooth-pic now. My Stock took about 400ml. I took action out of stock, filled the void in the back with water and then poured water into a measuring jug to get an approx volume. (saves waste) Edited July 18, 2017 by Sprucey
Dekers
I used silicone sealer and lead in my Tikka Lite stock. I simply wanted more weight right at the back rather than filling the stock, this achieved it very well, and cheaply!
