beanieboy
I have a Wildcat Evolution on my 223. It's a CZ527 American, so is relatively light. The Wildcat weighs 440g and makes the rifle very front heavy. I briefly handled a rifle at a recent country fair that had a DPT Mod attached and it was so light, it hardly affected the balance of the rifle at all. Hausken Mods are also supposed to be very light....was wondering if anyone is actually using DPT or Hausken....or anything that comes in considerably lighter than the 440g Evolution. The Evolution is a very effective moderator, but I am willing to sacrifice a bit of performance for something that offers improved handling. beanieboy
Thanks chaps, might try to exchange my Evolution for a DPT.
Lloyd90
What's the score with changing a mod you've currently got for another? Just have to sell it and then find another whilst doing a 1 for 1 variation with the Police? I recently had a look at a rifle WelshWarrior made, without going into what a great job he had done, I was amazed by how light the mod was, which he tells me was a DPD, I'm contemplating selling my Ase utra and buying a DPD now! mick miller
Aren't the Barton Gunworks ones supposed to be the lightest, for noise to weight?

I had to sell one first, get the slot opened on my ticket, then buy the new one. A pain in the rear!
beanieboy
I was just hoping to trade mine against a suitable new, or used, one at my local RFD. They have a good selection of mods and usually have a few used ones. As to the paperwork, I assume it's a variation as my Wildcat mods are named by model on my Cert. welshwarrior
Yep you need to do a 1 4 1 variation so can take up some time. Some forces will give you a spare slot with a condition you only own 1 at any one time. Edited July 26, 2017 by welshwarrior
mick miller
The whole moderator on ticket thing is more ******** like expanding ammo on S1 if you ask me. Say if you want light mod on a rifle for stalking but a heavier, quieter mod for when using the same rifle off a vehicle when foxing. What is the reasoning behind this nonsensical bit of legislation I wonder? More unnecessary work for licensing with no perceived gain in public safety. Kalahari
I have a couple of Hauskens, 223 & 7 x 64 and am very pleased. I guess the Lawrence Titanium ones are about the lightest of all, but a bit pricey. David.
mick miller
Sorry, I went off on one must be a Wednesday.
activeviii
I have a custom made titanium reflex on the cz527 and a also a DPT with stainless baffle. The DPT is a little lighter but the titanium is a lot quieter. The balance with either is good. For the price, I don't think you'll go far wrong with a dpt. Put a sock on it and it helps take the ping out
Nfinlay22
Have a dpt on my steyr 223 pro hunter. Very light and good sound reduction. Good moderator
