welshwarrior
My sons just had a shoot with a BSA Ultra JSR and it worked really well are there any other good junior PCPs to look at. I think they also had a cut down Brocock Contour
Ultrastu
The jsr is about perfection in my eyes . There isn't owt that comes close for kids . About time bsa lead the way in a market sector .its been a while .
welshwarrior
I think your right shame it's limited to 6ftlbs but that should do to start.
Zetter
I have the Brocock Contour which was my daughters gun its insanely light and does the full 12 ft/lb so its another option to think about.

steve_b_wales
Hatsan Striker 1000S. My mate bought one for his gransdson and reckons it's excellent value for money.
SxS
The nice thing about the JSR is that the stock is nicely proportioned for young (pre-teen) shooters and can apparently be swapped out for a larger one when they grow into a full size. Hopefully posting to other forums is OK, as there's an image about 1/2 the way down this page that shows the stock relative to standard: http://www.airgunforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/224271-BSA-Ultra-JSR/page2 We have one in the cabinet and the boys love it. Especially with exploding targets!
welshwarrior
The JSR just seems spot on with the small grip with reduce reach and light weight but blanaced set up shame it's 6ftlbs not 12 then it really could go right through with the kids. welshwarrior
I'm going to order the JSR tomorrow thinking 22 as I've loads of pellets or are 177s better for some reason?
oldypigeonpopper
hello WW, its always a big debate this 177 or 22, much depends what your shooting or learning to shoot as in your son, i would expect for the early stage its gun safety and targets, 6 ft llb i would go 177, keep the 22 pellets as maybe in the future you might think to get a springer like the striker, good luck
Ultrastu
A slow /low energy .22 is almost dangerous as the pellet will bounce back at you from most targets .its almost irresponsible of gun makers to make a pellet gun at this energy in .22 cal . welshwarrior
Well I'd already ordered the 22 by the time I saw these replies. He shoots it well and with a little ags scope it's still light enough. I've put a heavy card board sheet in front of the wooden back stop and nothing getting back through. I'm told they are simple to upgrade to 12 ftllbs as well so will do that in time.
Ultrastu
Please please please .I implore you dont shoot at a wooden back stop .even with card in front .it WILL rebound on you . Use concrete or brick Also they seem pretty tricky to convert to 12 fpe. My mate had a .177 and we really struggled to get it above 10 .shot count when much lower than a standard 12 fpe one. Ive a guy who used to do all my air rifle work for me when I took it in he says it's easy and has already done more than ten just replacing parts really from what he tells me. Ultrastu
Fair enough I guess he replaced the knock off valve in the whole . As we are pretty experienced in tuning bsa pcps .we deduced the internals of the valve is different from a sub 12 . It's the one bit we didnt measure
