nagantino
I'm trying to post a photo really. This barleyfield was still uncut today. Two sorry looking farmers checking it out when I arrived. Not a bird on it today. Anyway I can see I have succeeded in posting a photo. B&W FOX
Good Photo. That crop should make some interesting cattle feed.
nagantino
Yeah, the grass is growing up through it. I'm no farmer but it don't look good.
AberFowl
Still a good few fields like that around me!
JDog
Yesterday on one farm here in the Wolds I saw one field of beans, three of spring barley and another three of spring wheat still standing. The crops will be virtually worthless.

Alot undersown with grass that is coming well up through now. It's been a rather wet time for them here!
oldypigeonpopper
hello, here it has all been harvested but i have seen a few fields around with standing barley, will end up cattle feed i think, seems like the barley in the dryer has a problem maybe JD will know, it needs to be dressed as it contains a weed seed that effects cattle,
sako751sg
Still plenty uncut up here and very lucky if we get a day dry enough to get the combines going. Big drying bills and a lot of stress for most this hairst but plenty pickings for the birds this winter.
marsh man
I don't think we realise what problems other areas have with the weather at harvest time , this year we had a very early start on the winter barley , one or two wet days which didn't really course a concern and all safely in the grain store by August bank holiday. Our potato campaign on the estate should be finished today or tomorrow , yesterday I walked over the field to get a few spuds and it was as dry as a bone and only needed working boots to walk about . Sugar beet lifting is well under way and the early ones have all ready been drilled for next years harvest , having now praised our dry climate up , it will most probably rain now non stop for the rest of the year , although they do forecast a really dry and above temp for the weekend and running into early next week
Penelope
Some strong winds early next week I believe. Great for you retired lot to get out fowling. You have got to take full advantage of your free time P , we have got a shoot on tomorrow and by the look of it with the mild weather forecasted a jumper and no coat will be more than sufficient. Next week if the wind is strong it will most probably be pigeons on some fresh drillings , or if it is blowing from the South , I will hobble over the marsh to look for the goose with my name and address on its wing , or where ever , tell yer , this retirement lark is not what its cracked up to be ...................................Its even better P S .......... Hope your dad is still keeping well , and well done for tying the knot .
