yickdaz
after seeing pc's post thought I would just twist my title a little, it was slow today for us also, it was a mixed weather day for us heavy snow at times then sleet then dry then snow again and so on, we found 2000 birds yes that's correct 2000 on a small stubble just over the road from a stubble we can shoot with a wood running the length of it with birds using it before they flew over the road to join the others so it was the obvious place to set up, we pushed the cloud of birds off that stubble field but they didn't want to leave so it would have to be shots lifting them once we set up, it worked to a point our shots lifted flocks of them and they flew round some in to the wood behind us and most going straight back on the stubble they lifted from they came over us at a minimum of 50 yards and mostly 60 70 yards they did not want to decoy at all the rotary didn't work to bring them close so all shots were high limit of range birds, I went into the wood for the last hour and added a few more to the bag and a cock pheasant that I pushed up in the wood it was great sport but bloomin cold in the sleet and snow showers with a biteing wind we managed 20 woodies and 1 pheasant the snow had melted away close to the wood just over the fence you can see in the pic with the water dripping from the trees melting it but the field still had snow on it
aga man
Great stuff fella, sounds like 20 real good sporting birds. Encouraging to see the numbers about, hope you get some sport this winter.
JDog
Another hard earned bag in the snow. Interesting that pigeons were going into a snow covered stubble.

I thought exactly the same when I saw them on it but to be honest they wasn't getting ,much grain from it most of there crops only had a pinch of grain in them

marsh man
I know its cold and wet shooting in snow but there is something special about being out in it while shooting , maybe we don't a lot of it down here so it makes a change when there is a good covering . Today it is wet and windy , not a good day to be out at all. Well done on your well earnt bag of pigeons and the bonus cock Pheasant .
