stuartyboy
I've got a VW Sharan. Its got an incredibly annoying habit of winding down all the windows automatically if you press and hold the unlock button on the remote control key fob. I keep the key in my jeans pocket and invariably it gets sat on/gets pressed and down come the windows if within range of the car. All of them. I've had a few tannoy calls when in the supermarket or soft play with the kids announcing the owner of such n such car to attend reception... Can anyway advise if this 'feature' can be switched off? I'm concerned that I've been lucky so far but one day I will come back to the car and its been emptied. Worth noting that a few cars have this feature. Can understand opening windows from a distance if you're in a Florida car park and want it to cool down, but not in this country. In winter. TIGHTCHOKE
Have you asked your VW Dealer?
Rupert
This is standard, the will all roll down when press hold the unlock and all roll up with the lock button. May be able to code it out.
Tim Kelly
VW group keys are the most stupid ridiculous things going. I discovered the wind down windows thing on my van too. Staggering away from the van with something heavy and keys in your pocket the windows were mysteriously opening. Cretinous feature. I also have a Skoda estate and that does the same thing, you also have to press the button a million times before it will let you in any door other than the drivers door too. Key fobs only need to lock or unlock the doors, it's not magic and shouldn't be complicated, you want the vehicle locked or unlocked, simples! Planning to do so soon and ask if there's any way this feature can be deactivated. Does seem unnecessary and irritating. Was more having a rant last night and maybe to warn others of the potential for your vehicle to become insecure without your knowledge.Especially if you have to leave the car momentarily with a gun locked away in it. Dave-G
Its called global window operation - or similar. I'm sure there will be a option to disable it in VAGCOM software but it might be easier to pay a dealer to do it while in for a service. If you join a Sharan forum or facebook group I'm sure you'll find the answer if you ask there. EDIT: This was a feature on my old Galaxies - same as Sharan. Read some of these google results: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=global+window+operation+sharan&oq=global+window+operation+sharan&aqs=chrome..69i57.14049j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Edited February 10, 2018 by Dave-G New info
Westward
Not just VWs either. Got up one winter morning to find foot deep snowdrifts inside my Mazda. Usual thing, keys in back pocket, bent down to collect some logs and went indoors. Might be a useful feature in a hot climate I suppose. alastair0903
My Amarok has done this as I must have driven past it with the button pressed!! I have not looked on vag com as my cable is in cumbria with my brother, but you can adjust all sorts of other things with it
getthegat
Had an old Audi A4 that would sort of do that, just one window usually. Would come out in the morning to a damp seat. Brilliant car, had close to 300,000 miles on it (diesel of course) and would still give 45+ to the gallon and still bust the legal speed limit with ease if one was so inclined. My son skidded in the wet and totalled it. He was not hurt luckily, but I miss the old work horse.
