ME
I havent bought a car for about three months so I am rocking to and fro and spending every night with autotrader open on the desktop. I am looking for something reliable with four seats for around £10k. I am considering a Merc CLK or a Mini Cooper S. (They are both nice cars but totally different.) I am 34 so insurance isnt an issue. So, if you had £10k to spend on a car (not a gun ) what car would you get ?
njc110381
An Audi S4 or similar would be my first choice. Lovely cars and you should get a reasonable one for 10k

digger
TVR Cerbera. Has four seats ( sort of ), sounds like a car should and goes like a car costing ten times as much. Not so good in the wet but in the dry eats estate agents porches, fat **** astons and will scare the bejesus out of scooby owners, those citing its unreliability have never owned one. Mini cooper ? Its not a car its a hand bag on wheels

Good god man NO! It's french and FWD. I admire your enthusiasm but take a cold shower. LV, You need a 2+2 (enough of back seat to pretend it's a family car) & RWD. You could get a lot for £10k, the choice must be endless. You need to been more specific on what type of car you want. It sounds like you have cash to spare so the sensible choice is a mid-life crisis type motor.

Its not a car its a hand bag on wheels I've got a mate, no really I have, he's had 3 and the last two set themselves on fire. They don't handle, scooby owners will be struggling to keep up in a straight line but then the TVR will have spun and killed the occupant(s) while mr scooby neatly rounds the bend. Markio
There no denying that a scooby sounds lurvely with a decent **** can on, not bad for a 4 cylinder. 4WD nice and safe but lets face it, on todays roads you can't do mach 2 round a bend without crashing into a Muslim cyclist. Far better to drift the corner at slower speeds (if i could ) and have more fun in the wet. it's one thing that having my 2000sx taught me, were can you use it properly? You need a toy like a Lotus Elise 111s (or maybe a an R). No point having the power without the place to use it. Go for something nice and light, power to weight is where it's at. digger
Anyone can buy an impreza. They look like a ten year olds drawing of a car and lose ninety per cent of their value due to the fact owners really wanted to be rally drivers but never quite made it. They sound worse than a porche ( is that possible ? ) and are for those who think stickers maketh the driver. BMW convertibles are for medallion men, BMW M series for those who never really got the job they wanted. All the above for those who cant think for themselves or see a car as a fashion statement, below for being a man. TVR

pin
TVR = hairy chested medallion wearing men in ill fitting white linen suits who know nothing about cars. TVR came close to making a decent car then it all went a bit wrong. They all handle terribly (with the exception perhaps of the Sagaris, only in the dry though, and on a track, not the actual road). I don't like scoobies either, was always an Evo man You can't stand there and say TVR's are good cars, they simply aint. Terrible build quality, poor quality control and terrible after sales. Mind, they did make a half reasonable engine. If you want TVR like "ooh my tyres are on fire and I sound like a spitfire" shenanigans, by a Monaro VXR, it won't break and all the stuff will work and you'll save 15k. If you really want a good British sports car, may I suggest the Nobel M12
