What do you want to do with it, there is no such thing as the BEST .17, they do different jobs and should be tailored to what you want to do with it. Walker570 Posted April 17, 2018 Report Share Posted April 17, 2018 Check out the squirrel thread from yesterday....that is what the 17HMR will do.......NOWWWWW ...I also have a 17 Remington and was probably one of the first to use the calibre in the UK over 30yrs ago and would never not be without one...BECAUSE it will make that same shot as that shown in the squirrel thread photos but would also kill a fox at that range where the HMR would not be appropriate. As long as you don't go blatting hundreds of rounds at paper targets with the 17 Rem the barrel will last a long time. All the other variations do relatively the same job and I have no experience of them seeing I am more than happy with the two I have. I also had one of the first CZ 17HMRs ahipped from the importers.
