foxbasher
Came by this the other day whilst clearing out some stuff, missing the side scales but looks quite old. Any ideas?? Edited April 22, 2018 by foxbasher

ditchman
is it an SS dagger or...Hitler youth dagger...........
TIGHTCHOKE
I think it is a bayonet that has had the muzzle ring ground off. Could you photograph the handle from both sides, the narrow edges please. Edited April 22, 2018 by TIGHTCHOKE

TIGHTCHOKE
It is possibly a German WW2 Army Dress Bayonet Short Style Horster Solingen
Seadog1408
Probably a dress bayonet as lacking a fuller/blood groove on the blade.
TIGHTCHOKE
Something like this; Although the blade is a different form, the handle is very similar.

The handle on mine looks almost identical to this but is missing a bit that has snapped off and the side scales
Zapp
It's a K98 bayonet which has been reshaped, the back fuller has been ground out to make it double edged I reckon.

If that is correct, where is the release button that would lock it on to the rifle? FB can you measure the overall length, blade length and width and the handle dimensions please. old'un
Think ditchman is close as the design is very similar to a Hitler youth dagger, but I have never seen one double edged, don’t think it’s a bayonet, for the reason TIGHTCHOKE as given. Just Google’d it and It’s a German boy scouts dagger, post WW2. Edited April 22, 2018 by old'un
