I keep seeing what is clearly a scam whare a landrover, sports car etc is listed well below its value and you have to contact them outside eBay. Often they have a lot of cars for sale like this on there, sometimes the adds disappear only to reappear under a different name. So what's the scam, your not going to part with money with out seeing the said car etc.

Because out of 1000 people one will fall for it.

The wife works in a bank and last month had an old bloke in wanting to transfer £10,000 to an account for

a Rolls Royce he had never seen.

The scammer said the car would be delivered the next day after payment.

When the wife told him it was a scam he accused her of wanting it for herself.

The bank now has a policy in place where the Police are called to convince the victims it's a scam.

Yes that makes sense and this person has a lot on eBay so I guess they are spreading an even wider net.

Saw it on a watchdog type prog during the week ,a fellow paid 13 k less than book for a BMW then wondered why no car and the account he sent the money too was emptied and closed the same day he paid in  .Of course the account had been set up with fake i,d which they proceeded to show how easy that was too .It,s an old old saying "if it looks too good to be true "but still the gullable are sucked in

I think people are always a bit suspicious but their greed over takes them, thinking what a great deal they got and they have to get there fast before someone else snaps it up!

The scammers can be very believable. Renting houses or flats on Airbnb to provide cover addresses etc Its not that easy to open a fake bank account these days.

I wonder how long it will be before people wake up to the part played by Airbnb in facilitating all sorts of scams and identity fraudsters with temporary anonymous postal addresses
