Hi all

First time poster, from Sydney with roots still in North London!

I'm currently shooting a 692 Sporter 30inch tubes and looking to move up to one of the models above - anyone had experiences of shooting both for sporting - which did you prefer?

cheers

Hello and welcome.

If you shoot well with the Beretta, maybe you will be OK with the Perazzi's, if you can master the trigger. I would shoot one first BEFORE you dash out and buy one. I have been down the Beretta SO and Perazzi Road, suffice it to say,  I am back with a Browning now  !

Surely the point of moving across to Perazzi is that they make the gun to fit you. You specify what you want.

They certainly do make a gun to fit someone. 9/10 it’s just not you , I don’t know many that have bought a P gun and it’s exactly what they ordered . They all end up going back for further adjustment.

Your have a better chance of finding one that actually fits you in the second hand racks than a made to measure .

Half the gun for twice as much .....

Sadly and rather puzzlingly this is very true, I know more than a handful of people who couldn't shoot what Perazzi built them as a "fitted" gun and many more who shoot off the peg or 2nd hand Perazzi's rather well !

A few weeks ago one of our bestest young talents who has just been sponsored by them received his "fitted" gun for which he'd travelled to Italy only to find the cast appeared to have trebled ? since his final measurements ! Having missed more on his first trial stand than he normally misses on a full round the gun was duly sent off to more local gunsmiths who turned it around and fixed the problem. The gun itself is clearly a delight as he has gone on to post some astonishing numbers.

This is good to know! I've been grappling with this very issue and I think I am leaning towards having a gun fit done by EJC or somewhere similar and sending the measurements to Perazzi. I think trap shooting is so engrained in the Perazzi DNA, that perhaps there is a hint of one size fits all?

Had a few shots of a couple of MX200s and they are all different so try a few. The opening and closing of the action is very smooth and good triggers. Nice handling gun, sorry never heard of the other one you list.

Cheers figgy, I'm trying both in a couple weeks so that will be the 'love at first sight' or not moment.

(HTS = High Tech Sporter)

Cheers Stevo, good advice, keeping an open mind and yes I would go for an off the rack option is it have the right spec!

Sorry hate the High Tech Sporter, which according to the blurb is just the new MX2000S

I think it looks cheap with the words and plain action. Much like the MXS

Agree - I can probably accept the black lettering on black receiver so that the lettering fades out a bit.

The name still bugs me though - a marketing catch phrase is used to describe something that is highly functional and simple.

It reminds me of the cassette recorders/VCR of the 80's with 'high tech' written all over them - they didn't stay high tech for long!

If you come to EJC to have your gun fit I’ll most likely see you then. But you need to try both these guns as they are different beast and you need to learn to master them as well.  As to the factory making what you want that’s where people like us can check you get what you order not what the factory wanted you to order.  We do a lot with Perazzi and the system works well I’m doing at least 3 guns on Tuesday with another 3 tbc as an example.
