Jonty
This is a brand new one on me - it must be 20 years since I’ve seen a newt and for whatever reason I’ve just found one in my front room!
motty
I love newts. I still see some great crested ones from time to time. I used to be a master newt catcher in my youth, having spent numerous hours fishing them out of my pond by hand. The pond was full of them. I must admit to never having one turn up randomly in my house, though!
la bala
One of our protected species, costing developers lots of money. And rightly so they have lost much of their habitat.
JohnfromUK
50 years ago we used to get them in the cellar at my parents house.
Jonty
I walked past him on the way to the kitchen thinking it was one of my sons dinosaur toys at first. God knows how it got into the house! We’ve just released him into our pond - hopefully he has some friends in there

bear-uk
Not sure about the ones living under my block paving as there's no ponds around. Quite tricky during evening times as the congregate by the garage side door and I have to be careful not to stand on them.

When I was about 6 years old ... playing in the back garden barefoot, then for whatever reason we were heading out and I needed some shoes on. I went into the garage, and put my foot into a welly ... yep, straight onto a newt !! I never even knew they existed before then, but I can remember the speed that I ran back into the house
Ricko
Used to catch them as a youngster, but not seen one since early 1980s.
