hodge911
Just been notified of this by a mate Beware - fake police letters We have been made aware of bogus police letters being sent to some of our members. This could potentially affect anyone owning firearms, so please stay vigilant and inform others. The letters inform the addressees of a recent armed trespass and ask for a considerable fee to be paid within two months. Only a mobile phone number is provided, which is what raised the initial suspicion. Please under no circumstances make the payment. Contact your local police department immediately if you receive such a letter. You can also call BASC firearms department if you have any further questions. welsh1
While armed trespass is a criminal offence, the letter states the fine is for trespass, which is a civil matter and nothing to do with the police. These scammers are the scum of the earth.
Boristhedog
The bigger concern, in my opinion, is that these people seem to know who is licensed.

WestonSalop
Wherever its from, its a major GDPR breach. But as we know from previous threads, if its anything like the Met issue where data was sold for (someone's) commercial gain, then nothing will ever become of it, certainly not publicly. Ultrastu
It seams obvious to me that .the fac holder was seen shooting in a location .and followed home . Then the scammer looked through his recycling for his name adress and postcode . Then went away to draft his letter with location and dates of where the cert holder was and when. Without the above info the letter would be easily dismissed as fake .but with it it gets u worried. The real threat now of course is that scumbags know who you are what u have and where u live .
