bornfree
Iam thinking of buying an electric car and fitting a 10 KVA diesel generator in the boot to charge it. Should be exempt from the congestion charge and zero tax. But can I run it on red diesel?
Rewulf
As long as you don't run it while you're driving, who would know? I like this idea
Hamster
Why would you want to put the generator in the boot and why would you not just charge it conventionally ?
Saltings
run on propane no congestion charge 🤣
udderlyoffroad
Get a generator trailer and leave the boot free. Also deals with the exhaust issue. This is actually quite important, Top Gear gassed one of its Stigs when they tried the same stunt… Also you may have to figure out how to circumvent ‘drive inhibited whilst charging’ interlock. This is designed to prevent the quinoa-munching Sloane rangers from driving off without first unplugging from their EV point on the drive. This is easy to do, especially when you’re desperate for a soy latté from StarCosta and are late taking little Tarquin to touch rugby. If you leave it running, people would know you were coming and you would be able to avoid running over them and the costly court case that follows
Dibble
If it's over 40 years old you can register it as a Classic and it's exempt from the Ultra Low Emisions Zone😉
