That’s looking good.

How about a leather covered pad. Not that hard to do yourself.

OB

Thank you 👍

I had thought about that, seen some nice slip on ones on the bay, the last one I used removed some of the finish on my 16 bore, although I imagine that's cause I put it on and left it there 😂.

hello, i had one back many many years , plus full choke so never needed to pluck any pigeon!!!!!

my first 12 bore was an AYA Cosmos............think it had a 32" barrel and 1 1/4 choke......it was deadly......once shot a pheasant fairly close lifting up infront of me and it gutted it...blew all the guts out via the crop..............

Mine was a cooey exactly 50 yrs ago bought from the farmer whos land i shot over. I can picture now, my first pigeon,  foolish enough to land in a dead tree about 20yds away. I also remember it didn't fire sometimes..😮  then saving my harvest money and buying a brand new Yeoman, cant remember if it £39-19s -6d or £49-19-6d , still it did for the pigeon from my deluxe bale hide on clover that winter

Farmboy..Nice work on the Greener BTW

Yes indeed, stacking bales and throwing em up 5 high on the trailer with a pitchfork, rash on your arms especially from wheat bales,  Trying to knock yer mate off the top when you drove back in the evening,  [HSE ..😄 ] freezing cold milk from the bulk tank and your dinner warmed up in the oven when you got in. finish the day sat outside the pub.. I doubt there is a better way to enjoy life as a 17yr old......except perhaps enjoying that all week, then washed, scrubbed and tanned, turning up at the village hall for the dance on Saturday night...to see if any of the local talent was feeling friendly..😉  kin brilliant

I was thinking more along the lines of a permanent thin leather covered pad, not one of those slip on ones. I did one on one of my old 16s and it didn't look too bad for my first attempt. Have a look at Midway USA 'leather covered recoil pad' gives a video of how to do it.

Will post a picture of mine later.

My first single was a BSA Snipe. It was an ejector and ejected the cartridges whether fired or not. Had a black finished alloy action. Not sure how hard wearing that would have been with lots of use. Bought it second hand for £11 in the 60s.

Single barrels concentrate the mind knowing you only have one shot.

Ahh ok I've got you, I'll give the video a look. As long as I can find the right colour it should work a treat. That extension peice which is on there isn't the best match which is part of the reason I want to change it. It fits me ok a this length but as I'm going to sell it I thought I'd better finish the extension as get a pad.

I've always liked single barrel guns, what does £11 work out at in today's money?

I might aswell only have singles, the amount of times I've raised to say a pigeon, missed, then forgot I've got two more shots haha.

I got a piece of leather something like 12" x 12" quite cheaply from 'Artisan Leather' who can supply it in any colour. Dark brown seems the best, colour wise and then looks good when polished. It needs to be as thin as you can get as it needs to be wetted and stretched. The video will explain this.

Good luck

In true Blue Peter fashion, here`s one I made earlier.

Not brilliant, but not too bad for my first attempt.

I used a rubber recoil pad underneath filed down to get the correct LOP and it worked well. Really regretted selling it as it was a Charles Hellis 16 bore BLNE and had a bit of provenance due to it's original owner in 1930.

Thank you OB, that certainly looks the part 👍

I used to be an upholsterer in a previous life so I've got a bit of experience working with leather, hopefully if I have a go I won't make to much of a hash of it.

Just by what I can see of it I'm not surprised you regret selling.

I don't know if greener done a .410 but I have seen martini action .410's for sale.

Yours certainly looks in better shape than mine, especially the action. Have you thought about striping and refinishing the wood work?

Not really,  mine is the best greener I have ever seen in the states so I really don’t want to mess with it.  These guns are kinda prized over here.
