B725
How do they program the key? Isn't that a main dealer job.
London Best
No they don’t programme key fobs, just cut keys, but they keep car key blanks.
B725
I appreciate that but doesn't the key send a a signal to the ECU?
London Best
Dunno mate, but I wouldn’t have thought so on a 53 plate motor. May well be wrong though, I’m a technophobe.
B725
My first Discovery certainly did (300tdi) I removed the fob and gave the key to the garage so they could replace the back box and they had to push it as it wouldn't start without it they wasn't best pleased. R1nut
The blade should pull out of the fob.

John_R
If you know the code for the fob a Hawkeye or similar device can program the ECU accordingly. I'll be putting my Hawkeye in the classifieds once I get a moment, was planning to do so earlier but Lockdown got in the way.

Mine's the earlier version, bought with Disco 1 codes and later I paid for Disco 2 codes as well. I have the upgrade kit also, I think it's on either version 5 or 6 of the software. I sold my Disco two years ago so my memory of the details is now a bit fuzzy! Probably £150 plus carriage .
