The yanks are a friggin liability on the whole. When Hungerford kicked off, 16 AD RA where deployed at Imber Village in support of their cruise missle units. We provided a 3 mile perimeter inside which they exercised for a month or so. One evening we all took cover as the responded to "infiltrators" with live fire from M60s and .50cals. Tracer was streaking across the night sky! They ceased fire after about 2 mins, but it started again 5 mins later!! They were good for swaps tho, they loved our black berets (thought it made them look like special forces) and several guy ended up with full sleeping systems for a beret! Much better than our feather maggots

Whilst I can only agree, some blame must be laid at the door of our **** poor comms kit. I have spoken to lots of guys coming back from afghan saying that the comms are prone to cutting out at the worst possible time.

Been lurking in the background for a while and this is my first virginal post here! Still serving in the army. Only done 23 years so far so don't know too much yet. Shot a couple of pigeons and the odd rabbit in my time. Just upgraded to a chinese B2 air rifle. Would like to learn more about shooting though.

"We fought them on the beaches".

"We fought them in the parks".

"We fought them on the terraces".

Ol' Bill, did you serve with Andy Mudd at 156?

He left just before I got there, but I have had the misfortune to speak with him on several occasions (I was junior in rank to him) and he spoke to me and others below his rank like ****.

I believe that he just wanted you to look up to him. I think that he wanted this a lot.

Was he bitter? ???

As far as I am concerned a chap who loses his legs in service already gets my respect. Of course yes he was bitter, but so would I have been. It doesn't hurt tho to ask first, then tell and if it doesn't work then it's time to talk to people like **** ??? The other guys had said he was like that before, but even more after the bomb.

Rumour has it (urban legend) that the PIRA apologised as there was an policy not to target RMP due to their close links with 14 Int and the Regt. It was a common rumour, but I don't know if it was true.

Three years in the RN, then a spell in the Army that came to an abrupt and disappointing halt due to injury.

You must need your head seen too. Fancy leaving the pusser to join the Pongo`s.

I was in the Pusser for the full 24 spent most of my time in subs, hence the name Sundodger

I joined in 1970 HMS GANGES and left christmas 1994. I was grad to leave it is not the same these gone to soft and they are always thinking of ways to cut your pay.

Was 1 KOSB (Iraq 2 tours and NI 1 tour) now in TA

I served with 1 DWR, and was attached to the KOSB in Forkhill and crossmaglenn, I enjoyed the company, never understood a word anyone said but all the same, it was a good time considering where we were.

To right as an Englishman i a Jock reg I did understand the Iraqis better at times, I did manage to convince the interpreters that because all the officers in the coy where english and the soldiers scottish we rounded up the tribal hill savages and put them in uniform in a colonial army. But was an excellent regiment and I can't think of a better people to have in a stickey situation. Shame the penny pinching govt has assigned the KOSB to the history books

I think they call that 'restricted code' in other words only those who have served can understand a single word of it!

I thought I would join the airforce to learn how to mend aircraft, but the recruitment bloke couldn't have done a better job of talking me out it if he tried.

Lucky escape then Stuart.

22+ years Per Ardua Ad Astra for me (fat wallet techie for those in the know) I'm out in December and can't wait. Any E-Goaters on here?
