markm
Mrs went to the bank late yesterday afternoon and the girl behind the counter asked her if she wanted to up her over draft limit, when my wife asked why the lady said "because your over drawn by £2000." Over the last 48 hours £2500 has been withdrawn from her account in amounts less than £20 all made payable to "Air India Freight." Account has been suspended and fraud is looking into it. LEFTY478
£2.5k @ < £20's a time? A minimum of 125 different transactions in just two days! How the **** did that not get flagged up as at least 'a little bit' suspicious? Hope you get all your 'hard earned' back quickly.

Thats what I thought, when questioned apparently the larger bank systems do not show up small transactions when looking for fraud, it would of taken a few more days, I could not understand how the account was allowed to go that far overdrawn also. A note to all - we shred all envelopes statements etc etc and never use a switch card over the net, only credit cards. We thought we were careful, also its a new card that was only issued at the start of the month as the old one was at its expiry date. Oh and the bank will pay it. Dunkield
I will interested to see how this runs, you should get it all back, but it is how it happened that is intersting. Mrs stuartp had her card cloned at the local pertol station, but the bank rang us to let us know they had picked it and and dealt with it and issued a new card ASAP. I never use a card at any petrol station that is run by Asians. I do try not to be a racist and teach my grandkids to see people as good and bad regardless, but unfortunately Asian garages and curry houses are absolutely rife for card cloning. Add to that the fact that Barclaycard has its call-centre in Delhi and………….. G.M.

Had just over £2k lifted from our account. Bank reimbursed us but it took a while. Also all cards were suspended and re-issued but for that following week we had to go into the bank with a certain piece of ID and withdraw money from the counter. T'was a pain in the **** at the time. I think it took about 5 - 6 weeks to get the money back in our account. Hope yours is sorted quicker. I'm afraid to say the banks slow down down the refund of money (for obvious reasons). A mates brother is a manager at a certain bank branch. He has told us before about how fraud is flagged. The ********* normally make a small transaction followed by a large one which is normally made to a freight company or is used to pay for a flight. Andy W
We have had this conversation on this forum a couple of weeks ago and yes asians are notorious for card cloning, at the time I reported of a lady friend of mine whose son who worked for JJB sports was bullied by asian drug dealers in to card cloning for them, they were eventually caught and sent to prison, it is not been racist just honest, I could say more of my experiences with the asian business community but I had better not. pav
I had £1,100 taken out in one fail swoop - luckily First Direct were superb and refunded the money within 30 min of me calling. The statement showed the money had been spent on foreign currency
markm
Bank been on today, looks like the card was done at "Costco." The guy that served us was (cough) Indian, transactions started about an hour after we used the card there with "Air India Freight." Northumbria Police and Halifax on the case. russuk
Had my TSB account done not long ago. Can't have asked for better service to be honest, put straight on to the fraud department and had the money back in within a few days with no hassle. However with this quick and easy service came the feeling that this is a very regular occurrence.
