did i miss
hi all any idea how much it costs to pay by PayPal for goods from the USA
ratchers
As far as I am aware it should cost the buyer no more, the seller pays any commission to PayPal. You may have to pay any import duties/tax to HMRC

Jaymo
Their exchange rate isn’t the best, but it’s convenient. By the sounds of it, you’re purchasing through EBay which means that you have little choice in those matters.

If you have found the item on eBay.co.uk originally, go on to eBay.com and look for and buy the same item in dollars, paying with your dollar provider of choice. I haven't done it with the USA, but have done it with eBay.de using my holiday euro account and saved on the cost of the item.

Modafinale
Can’t you get them in the uk ? import tax can get very expensive and arrives usually a few weeks after your goods. it includes the full cost plus postage so something that seems cheaper can work out more than a uk/eu price
discobob
and dont forget the handling fee on top of any duty/vat - Royal Mail is £12 I believe - other couriers are more

That way you know your not going to have Royal Mail asking for £12 just for delivering the thing ( errr, I mean, handling and processing charge) Although they give you the conversion clearly listed, as said, it’s not the best exchange rate but it is convenient.
