MirokuMK70
Just got back from a weeks holiday with the house shut up and noticed rust forming on the top of my wood burning stove. Any ideas how to remove this without damaging/ spoiling the appearance of the stove. Its only a year old and cost me a fortune!

Rubbed down with very fine Emery and painted on heat safe paint. Can’t remember the brand and will look it out tomorrow and let you know. Can’t tell the difference from the rest of the stove. This was as recommended by the company who fitted it.

bone
As wisdom said zebrite, her indoors has been using it on our cast iron stove since 1985 no problems. Just rub it on and away you go.
bavarianbrit
My heat plate has a patina of heat/rust and still works now 18 years on and I am still happy with it.
Westley
Use some 0000 grade steel wool and some light oil like 3 in 1. It works a treat on gun barrels !
powler
You can get stove paint in aerosol cans which gives a nice finish, Clearview sell it in several colours. Mick
