Scully
Posterior Vitreous Detatchment. If it happens to you, don’t worry, it won’t effect your shooting! I was operating a cherry picker about a fortnight ago, up at the ridge beam of a house when I thought a cobweb had drifted into my right eye. Couldn’t get rid of it and it narked me for the rest of the day. Anyhow, believing something had attached itself to my contact lens, once at home I ditched it, but nothing improved. Outside with the dog while I threw it a ball, it seemed like there were thousands of midges zipping about when I looked at the sky. There was also a black dot which I could chase around my eyeball and a wisp of smoke hanging vertically. A visit to the optician put my mind at rest it was nothing serious, but I was very concerned as to how it would effect my shooting, as I already have an astigmatism in that eye and a left master eye! 💩 Anyhow, this afternoon a mate and me set up a trap atop a hill and together with his three kids we went out to play. We were there for about four hours and had great fun, and I was much relieved to shoot 47ex50! So if you experience a PVD, fear ye not. 👍 Edited September 5, 2021 by Scully
WalkedUp
Glad it didn’t effect your score, 47/50 is well beyond my capability without drifters. Sounds grim, glad it is sorting itself.

Sounds grim, glad it is sorting itself. Thankyou. Apparently your brain learns to see around them, but it could take weeks or months to clear up completely. Was told by the optician that if I see flashing lights along with the black dots, to get myself to A&E asap, as that will be a full retinal detachment and the sooner it is treated the better, but a PVD doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll experience a full detachment. WalkedUp
Yes I read up after you posted and 85% of people with PVD have no further issue or complications. Odds are well on your side of a good outcome.
JTaylor91
I had an eye issue a few years ago there was just something “off”.I reckoned I needed glasses so off I went to the optician. Had a minute look in my left eye then spent a solid 10 minutes on the right......then asked me to wait outside. Turns out the optic nerve in my right eye was bleeding. Couple of visits to a specialist over a couple of months.....still bleeding. I eventually ended up in a bloody MRI to checks for tumours. No tumours thankfully but it still gives me bother now and again and apparently that is just the way it is.
Mr.T
Had a PVD in right eye March 2019, optician did full examination said no damage to retina and go back if flashing dots appear, had another PVD Jan 21 this time in left eye again no damage no retina both clear up within 3 months but can be annoying at times found changing flys when fishing difficult with spots floating around, optician says age related so can reoccurrence is probably go to happen

Mine is age related apparently, so not a great deal to be done really. 🤷♂️

I have had floaters to varying degrees for years but optician tells me there is nothing wrong apart from slight astigmatism. My wife was told she had a slight bleed at he last test. PS if it helps me shoot 47/50 you can poke me in the eye!
Scully
Thankyou. I’ll learn to live with it. I was in their for the best part of two hours as they thought I may have glaucoma, but after testing for it I haven’t. To be honest 47 ex 50 isn’t the norm’! muncher
This happened to me about 3 months ago, and as I had a banging headache, phone call to 101 you need to get to AE as you could be having a stroke. No it was PVD, it is still clearing up but I wear glasses most of the time now as that eye starts to get sore if I don’t. I was assured mine would, although it can take months apparently.
