Cruising the fjords

Hi ,just wondering if anyone has been cruising the fjords in early August ?? And if they had what might you expect weather to be like regarding what clothes to take ; would it be similar to here ??sailing on po iona ?? Wife’s booked it as she’s always fancied going thanks in advance

Typical northern climes can get all weathers in a day so warm/sunny cold/wet. So shorts and shirts plus fleeces and light waterproofs.

I would take a travel spinning rod, for when you tie up, do they get midges/mossies

I have been in August and although it was hot on the quayside we were in a blizzard on the mountain top  ! As suggested, take both. We have some Rohan fleece tops that pack into their own pocket and a water and windproof jacket that folds up small. We put those in a small backpack.

I hope your good lady has booked you on the hurtigruten, this is a norsk equivalent  of our coastal bus service but on traditional vessels. The bigger cruise ships are unable to get up the smaller fjords  and are just floating hotels with no inside knowledge. Always ask someone  with some experiance, keep away from booking on the internet and use a travel agent rather than the high street holiday shops.    From Auntie.
