samboy
Hi gang. Just been watching some trailers of this on Youtube. Conditions were horrendous. I spent a few years in the Merchant Navy on passenger, cargo and tankers and at times i was soaked and cold due to storms efc. But at least i could dry off and put dry clothes on. No being a submariner is not for me.

No being a submariner is not for me. My Dad was on a Destroyer during WW2 doing the Atlantic Convoys. He told me that once they had been at sea for 48 hours there wasn't a dry place or person on the whole ship. Sea water sloshing about on the mess deck when they ate their meals and once it got too rough then no hot food either.

Townie
Saw somewhere that the original dialogue on board was inaudible because of the machinery noise, so the actors had to redo it all. Then, because the main actors were bilingual, they re dubbed the whole thing again in English for the international market. Not sure if true though!
