Old Boggy
I visited London a couple of weeks ago, something I don`t do very often and passed by Trafalgar Square. Looking up at Nelson, I saw a pigeon fly level with his head. Now this looked to me so small and well beyond any shotgun range and unshootable, but checking the height, I was surprised to read that the top of his hat (that`s Nelson`s, not the pigeon`s, the pigeon wasn`t wearing one as far as I could see) is actually just over 56 yards from the ground ! I certainly would not even raise my gun to something that high, but perhaps this I just me shooting within my own ability. This got me thinking whether we totally overestimate the height of birds when out shooting having nothing at height for comparison of distance, unlike when shooting say decoying pigeon etc. Any thoughts?
