ilovemyheckler
As I seem to lose quite a few leads I am thinking of making my own. They will be the Field Trial Pro slip lead type as they are flexible, hard wearing and suit my needs I can source everything I need apart from the braid which needs to be 5mm for the reasons above. I have tried different thicknesses and 5mm is the best for me. Anyone know where I can get the right material from? I have bought a couple of samples from the net (unseen) and they aren't what I want. I would prefer olive colour (probably why I can't find my lost leads!) but other colours considered
TR1
I use 6mm sash cord , it is white and therefore easier to find if dropped. Also if you use a 3/4 tap washer as the stop the 6mm fits nicely to give good grip.
Spr1985
Have you considered 5mm paracord? 70m roll on eBay is about £16/£20 in olive/army green
Dave at kelton
I use 25mm red nylon webbing and a welded D ring all glued and stitched. Easier to find, roll up easily and can carry several in a pocket with bands around them. as above if I want anything like the above I just use sash cord. I find the sheath on the climbing cord works really well as a slip lead - hard wearing and slips well. I use an old 10mm static rope (no stretch) for mine.
