Lloyd90
Thought some of you lot might find this an interesting topic! Failing Vegan restaurant unable to attract customers decides to start selling meat to try and get more business in. When challenged over their decision, asking why they wouldn’t just go out of business instead of “exploit animals to try and make a profit”, they said it was more important to stay in business!! Rim Fire
We got one here that has stopped selling meat and gone total vegan The Queen Inn, a country pub in Upper Cwmbran, South Wales, will keep the menu 100% vegan after a successful Veganuary. Image Credit: https://www.facebook.com/thequeeninncwmbran/ In December 2021, the owners of The Queen Inn pub announced they were celebrating Veganuary by launching a fully vegan menu for a month. They swapped many of their traditional ‘pub grub’ dishes with plant-based alternatives such as “chicken” madras, “beef” lasagna and “shrimp” noodles Edited September 8, 2022 by Rim Fire
ShootingEgg
It's a business, they want to stay in business so they have adapted, they tried a vegan only menu and didn't attract enough business, so went back to having meat on menu. I'd understand people being put out if it was thriving and used it to make more money, but they tried a business model and it's failed so they have changed the model. Good business sense
London Best
I see nothing wrong with the decision, because every normal, meat selling restaurant seems to have plenty of (too much) vegan carp on their menus.
Scully
The thing is, it is extremely hard to be a mixture of vegan and non vegan. Vegetarian and non vegetarian is fine, although care has to be taken due to the fact some vegetarians are so because of intolerances in non vegetarian food, some of which can make them seriously ill, but to swap from vegan to non vegan in the same kitchen is a recipe for disaster. It would take two dedicated work stations ( not in the same kitchen ) and in most cases two sets of non interchangeable kitchen staff. Vegan clients WILL ask exactly how their food was prepped and cooked. Edited September 8, 2022 by Scully
