Phosphor Bronze Ring substitute for Webley senior

I am renovating an old Webley Senior air pistol and can’t source a phosphor bronze ring for the piston. Has anyone successfully used any alternative to act as a seal on the Webley Senior piston or suggest a way forward to finish the project ?

I’ve tried online but no stock available including Chambers who told me they would have no stock for the foreseeable future. According to the web any ptfe ring fix is unsuitable for the Senior. An option discussed online involved installing a screw at the end of the piston to accommodate a washer but it’s not a road I want to go down.

Thanks for the replies 👍

Do you have a worn original or the dimension of a new one if so, I could make you one.

That would be great but unfortunately I don't have one but I will ask Chambers if they will give me the dimensions of the one they manufactured. I'm surprised no one is producing one but they are meant to last so perhaps demand doesn't justify mass production.

Have you tried Protek Supplies phone number 01243 827500.

Thanks I looked online and they are out of stock but I will phone tomorrow, they might point me in the right direction.

Thanks for all the replies so far it's much appreciated

After sourcing the dimensions from TW Chambers and checking them with a ring supplied by Protek  Rat Boy successfully manufactured 2 phosphor bronze rings which have got my Webley Senior back into service. I’ve no chronograph but the pistol is now putting its .177 pellet through 2 shooting times and a few sheets of cardboard consistently’

Thanks Peter I appreciate the time and effort you spent to get my pistol back into working order. I will endeavour to pass this kindness forward 👍

Glad you got it sorted and well done Rat Boy for coming to the rescue. :good:

Thanks old’un it would have been a quirky paper weight otherwise as I have no technical wizardry to call on to improvise a solution so  Rat Boy’s kindness was very much appreciated

Konor it was a pleasure to help you. Next project for the lathe. A batch of GAT pellet pushing pins. Slightly fiddly and time consuming, but the fields are soaking and no Pigeons on the ground, so its workshop time.

Best of luck with the new project 👍
You’ve successfully changed my ornament into a shooter and given me the chance to enjoy some  addictive fun  with an old classic ,it is much appreciated😀
