Velocette
I've recently been buying odds and **** of cartridges from several auctions if the price was unmissable (Hoping that the cartridges would be too !) Amongst some I collected from Ryedale Auction last week were 6 boxes of these Lyalvale Express 25g No.6 in 12g. I took a handful out last Saturday together with my regular Pigeon Select just to see what they would do on crows and the odd pigeon. Shot out of my Brno O/U with 10 and 20 thou of choke I was surprised at their effectiveness at all normal ranges ie out to 40 long paces, dropping half a dozen crows and two pigeons just sitting under a vague flightpath. Did these used to be a clay cartridge ?. It does say competition and game on the box but I cannot find any record of them in an internet search. At less that a fiver a box I think that these may really be a bargain.

Centrepin
Glad you got them, I was going to bid myself but forgot till after the auction. Ive had a few bits from there but noticed recently his estimates have been quite high for me, bordering on current retail price.

He was coaching with his lads and me with BASC.
Velocette
Quite right, the prices are on the high side but we were passing and couldn't resist ! At the last but one sale I really should have carried on bidding for two or three lots of Sellior and Bellot ? 32g of No.7. They were in lots of about 350 and I bowed out at £100 when I knew that they could have been useful. Silly money these days but do need to stockpile a few more yet. Westley
When I ran a clay club in the eighties, we used 1000's of these cartridges because they were great for practice and had reduced recoil for beginners. I also shot a lot of pigeons with them, but they did not like my Beretta 301 auto. They went on to load 24 gram HV cartridges, which I think replaced the 25 gram, but were for the clay shooter with 7 1/2 shot size.
