Hi just wondered I've been collecting state pension for over 1 year now been going through old paperwork how long should i keep P60 forms for Thanks for any reply's Terry

Can't give you a definitive answer in law, I have mine going back about 45 years. Before that I didn't consider them important and don't remember them.

I have never thrown one away. It's the only definitive proof you are ever likely to get?

"There are four time limits within which we can issue assessments. These are

4 years from the end of the relevant tax period, see CH52100

6 years (careless) from the end of the relevant tax period, see CH53300

12 years (offshore) from the end of the relevant tax period, see CH53510, and

20 years (deliberate) from the end of the relevant tax period, see CH53600."

 

So.......don't throw them away yet!!

Stamped on the top right hand corner Do Not Destroy  so when the kids are looking out your will they will find a pile of P60s ?.
