fortune
The price of long wellie boot socks !! Whilst waiting in a gun shop the other day I was looking along the racks of shooting clothes ( It was like a gentleman’s outfitters than a gunshop) and was amazed by the prices of the items there for sale. There were pairs of socks on a rack for £ 25 !! The cheapest ones were about £ 13 !! Now I don’t know about you lot but I would not pay that much for a pair of socks for principle. This morning the BASC mag arrived and low and behold there was all the usual guff inside including a catalogue from John Norris. I wonder what shooting has become when all the stuff in there is like designer gear with prices to match. Either a lot of people have got a load of money or think that because they have a pair of boots costing £ 200 that they wont be able to go shooting. All of this started with green wellies and there has been a lot of jumping on the bandwagon in recent times. Now I’ve got nothing against good expensive kit. God only knows how much I have spent on kit but I draw the line when it becomes a kind of badge or uniform of the set that if you haven’t got it then you cant be in the gang. EG. >> The right sort of trainers or the Big Issue seller that wears an old greatcoat and has a black and white mongrel dog with him. You’ve seen him also. Do they have to buy the dog and coat along with the franchise? Alan Tichmarsh was on TV the other day wearing a pair of boots that look similar to the wexford boot on p57 of said catalogue >>> £275 Say no more !! >> Nudge, Nudge, wink, wink >>A! Guest The Outlaw
I've got size 14 Neoprene lined Hunter wellies, Tescos socks, Jahti Jakt Suity thing with the thermals and an Auzzie style Leather hat. So I dont know if I'm in or out. The wife (Calamity Jane) is so pink it hurts sometimes, I have been lucky so far because her Cyergy is still black along with her shell bag but the gunslip is red. No doubt they are hiding on a christmas list somewhere. But the rest of her kit is getting very pink, and she even wanted her own pink psace on another forum. Dunkield
Those wellies are for cheapskates or tightwads. THESE are the ones: http://www.le-chameau-clothing.co.uk/wa/1/...y-Chasseur.html
webber
I thought that I was in; but now realise that my socks came from a stall on Keswick market selling country wear, oh dear; I'm only an inbetweenie!! And at £25 for a pair of socks I'll be staying that way. Some of us can remember when £25 bought you a full case of cartridges, and some change. Sphericals to being in with the incrowd. webber
webber
Stuart I note that the aniversary wellies are quoted as being in stock. At £300, why am I not surprised? Many years ago I purchased a pair of chammies, they cost £105, a similar price to today. My wife cant believe that I spent so much on a pair of wellies. At £300, she would seek to get me sectioned. It's a good job that she doesnt know how much some of the guns and rifles cost!!! webber (closer to in, than out)
Dunkield
I am fairly sure that apart from my leather walking boots my chameau wellies (the £105 ones) are the most expensive piece of footwear I have ever bought. They are now 8 years old and get worn every week and in the winter more like everyday. I have never had cold feet and I have never had wet feet wearing them, I have never regretted buying them. As I am constantly reminded at home when I choke at price tags on some of mrs stuartp's clothes "it's all about price per wear"

THESE are the ones: http://www.le-chameau-clothing.co.uk/wa/1/...y-Chasseur.html I notice that they are a limited edition and that there are only225 available in the UK !!! Is that coz there are only 225 idiots in the UK that will pay this much for a pair of wellies. AND >> I also notice that you get a FREE boot bag and spray !! You mean you might have to splash out more for these ? At this price !! B) What sort of spray ?? ODOUR or PAINT >> to touch up the green bits where the black rubber is showing through ? So, I decided to opt for another 70 quid and get some chammies.......... Then I saw the Chammy Muflon boots...............at another £170...............................so I have got a pair of them too........ Guess that makes me a posh one............... But the wife thinks I only spent 60 quid............... :yp:
