SD card transfer

I've got a new Icotec Gs500 Hellion+ caller. It has many of the American calls on the card, plus quite a few British ones (via Rob Crampton from Best fox Call)

I would like to save all these calls onto another card, just in case the original card gets damaged/corrupted etc. How do I go about this?

Play it in to your computer and then add it to another card.

Just copy the files from your Icotec caller to your computer using a USB cable.

The files are on the SD card. I'll put the card into my computer and try and copy them onto it, then paste them onto a spare card. I think I did this once with music files.

If you have a card reader then yes do it that way but you should be able to plug the caller into the PC with a USB cable and read the files on the SD card, from there you should be able to copy and paste to your PC

I'll try it tomorrow, with help from my daughter. I don't want to lose the data on the original card, that's my biggest worry.

The Internet preditor sounds don't seem to resemble anything natural.  I have an electric caller and the only thing that it ever called in was an owl which nearly took my mates hat off.  I had this once when I was hand calling Charlie. I  never saw it, I never heard it.  My owl brushed my hat and scared the residue out of me.  I  can call a charlie with hand or various squeaker but the  Internet sounds just sound like some old boy. Making a load of random noises.  I  used to try sounds out on the dogs and there were only a couple that they were interested in. I  found that squeakys cut out of various toys worked well.  I  found that calling was a combination of light levels, wind direction,  background and luck. Also it is how much and how long the call lasts generally is important.   If it is to much Charlie can get spooked and go.  educated to the danger.

One of the advantages of remote callers are taking the prey to an area its either safe to shoot or not coming directly in your direction.  I've had success with both but sometimes the additional tool in the box gets the job done easier..

I've had a caller out in a field close to a rearing pen that due to area and wind direction was,  at the time more suited than hand calls. 👍

I totally disagree with what you said about the sounds not resembling anything natural. My first remote control caller was a Foxpro Spitfire. It came with American calls, which did work over here, but I then had UK calls put on it and they were excellent. In particular, the Fox calls (mating, calling, etc) by both dog and vixen worked brilliantly, as did all the rabbit/rodent calls. These were excellent when young fox cubs were wandering/exploring their surroundings.

I have also had great results by using hand/mouth calls, both purchased and homemade. One, that was very good, was when I made my own, using two lollypop sticks with a thin piece of plastic sandwiched between them. By using various plastic materials, and different thicknesses, they produced various sounds. A good material to use was video tape, which worked very well. But, at the end of the day, it's how you use the different callers that matters. With my remote one, I used to alter the volume/time between the calls. And, all the foxes that came into my remote/hand callers, didn't get educated to them.

Good luck to everyone, no matter what you use.

I've used Shania Twain "Feels Like a Woman"  before..

Before remote callers I used an I pod thingy and speaker, I'd set up 30 minutes of calls to loop with a 2 minute silent track at the beginning. Put it out in a field about 60-100 yds away. 1 time I thought kids were about playing their boombox. It wasnt it was my caller playing Shania..

Can't remember if I shot anything that night.

I remember a mate of mine telling me this, many years ago. First of all, he wasn't 'keen' on the dark, but did venture out on his own, after foxes. He made his own sounds by squeaking a balloon (letting air out slowly and squeezing the neck) and taping it on an old tape recorder. He put it down in the field, and it was squeaking away merrily. After a while, and with nothing showing, he decided to move it to somewhere else. As he was walking down to the tape recorder (in the dark) and as he was near to it, all of a sudden he heard men talking. He absolutely crapped himself, and it was only afterwards that he realised that the tape had automatically switched to the other side, and was playing something else!

I still have mine with the Warrener cd that i used to play in them and they worked

I've got two micro SD cards that have UK and USA calls on them. It would be good if I can get them copied onto one SD card and then use it in the Icotec.
